Prince William Gets Nostalgic About Queen Elizabeth During Surprise Heart Breakfast Moment
Prince William has often spoken warmly of the late monarch’s guidance, wisdom, and quiet support that he received.
Apart from being close to his mother, Princess Diana, Prince William shared a very special bond with his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and it has continued to show through his actions and gestures even after her passing. The Prince has often spoken warmly of the late monarch’s guidance, wisdom, and quiet support that he received, sharing personal memories and heartfelt tributes during several public appearances. One such moment came recently when the Prince delighted royal family fans by sharing a sweet memory of his grandmother during his appearance on the "Heart Breakfast" show.
Throughout the show, hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden shared a lively and engaging conversation with William, and at one point, Holden unexpectedly started a discussion about scones. She said, “[Since] you are the Duke of Cornwall, we need to put you to the test. We've got some scones here with some jam and clotted cream.” For context, this traditional treat is very commonly served in tea rooms across England, especially in regions like Devon and Cornwall. Building on the topic, Holden went on to mention the two popular methods of serving scones with cream and jam.
She said, “There is the Deavonian way. There is the Cornish way. My mom tells me off because she says I do it wrong for our heritage. I'm going to tell you what I do first, which is I put the clotted cream on first, and then I put the jam on top.” She then inquired, “Now, Prince William, what do you do?” Responding to this, William revealed, “I can only tell you what I learned from my grandmother, and she had the cream on first.” This refers to the Devonshire method, where the scone is first split, then coated with a layer of clotted cream before finishing with jam on top.
After hearing this, Holden appeared relieved, adding that the treat was delicious no matter which method was used. The discussion then moved on to Kate Middleton’s successful trip to Italy. Meanwhile, just a day earlier, William made a surprise visit to Nansledan in Cornwall to review the ongoing development of the Duchy of Cornwall’s expanding sustainable community project. He reviewed the plans for Nansledan’s upcoming Market Street development, which is a significant project expected to be one of the first newly constructed high streets of its kind in over a hundred years, as reported by People Magazine.
