Prince Philip was in the hospital for almost a month, and apparently is oblivious to what his grandson Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said to Oprah Winfrey during their tell-all. The two claimed someone in the royal family was "concerned" over Archie's skin color and that when Meghan tried to get help, the institution ignored her

"The family is very keen that he's not aware of the full extent of the interview," royal commentator Katie Nicholl claimed to Australia's 9Honey.

The constant media attention made it "impossible for him to completely avoid it," but Nicholl said "efforts were made to protect him from the full force of the fallout."

Prior to the interview, people were urging the couple to cancel or move the chat since Philip was dealing with health problems. “Anything could hijack this interview. Philip is ill. He is 99 and could die at any time. They were not to know he would get ill, but it could be seen to be the wrong time. But I doubt it is in their gift to postpone the interview. The control is in the hands of CBS and Oprah,” Penny Junor, author of Prince Harry, Brother, Soldier, Son, told The Daily Beast

Fortunately, Philip — who turns 100 in June — was discharged from the hospital on March 16 after a 28-day stay. The Duke of Edinburgh was fighting an infection and then underwent heart surgery

Despite being on the mend, Nicholl is still hesitant that Philip is 100 percent out of the woods yet. “It was a great relief to see him leave in a car, not an ambulance, but he did look very, very frail in the backseat,” Nicholl said. “I know the family are relieved he’s home but also deeply concerned about his health."

Now, Philip's wife, Queen Elizabeth II, "has barely had any time to herself since the interview and has been in constant crisis meetings," a source told Us Weekly.

"The Queen has always had a soft spot for Harry and looked out for him, so [she] is incredibly hurt and shocked that it has come to this," the insider said. "She’s trying to be understanding and see things from Harry’s perspective, but the allegations he and Meghan have made are hard for her to digest. The interview has wreaked havoc on the royal family."
