Prince Harry Finally Addresses Rumors On Whether He’s Struggling In US With Meghan Markle

Day after day, a common narrative has followed Prince Harry: that walking away from the royal fold was a mistake, and that life in California has left him miserable and adrift. In the face of the persistent assumptions about his post-royal life, Harry has decided to finally put that story to rest. The Duke of Sussex left no room for doubt, stressing that he's not pining for Palace corridors or the royal spotlight. Instead, he says he is perfectly content in Montecito with Meghan Markle and their children.

Harry, who stepped down as a senior royal in 2020, spoke candidly during a surprise trip to Ukraine last week about his state of mind. In an interview with The Guardian, Harry dismissed long-standing press narratives that he is struggling with his post-royal life. "It is only in certain elements of the press where you see this talk about me being down or saying I am not smiling," he said. "This comes from people who think they know what I am thinking and how I am feeling. They are wrong." Harry explained that the British media have actively tried to paint him as miserable since moving abroad. "I think parts of the British press want to believe that I am miserable, but I’m not," he insisted. "I am very happy with who I am, and I like the life that I live."

However, the Duke did acknowledge that the past few years have been anything but smooth. Between high-profile legal battles with news outlets and the UK government, his ongoing rift with the royal family, and the relentless glare of public attention, he admits there have been challenges. "I have certainly had to deal with some very stressful events over the last four years," he said. "There has been the uncertainty and stress of the litigation and finding out certain things that have really, really hurt." Even so, Harry insists he continues to feel a connection with the people of Britain. "I feel a lot of support from the British public," he shared.

The Duke’s trip to the UK this time had a more personal dimension, beyond his charitable engagements. It marked the first time since February 2024 that he spent time with his father, King Charles, who is undergoing treatment for cancer. According to Harry, reconnecting with the monarch is now a priority. "The focus really has to be on my Dad," he told the paper, hinting towards his intent to nurture the relationship despite recent strains. The father-son duo met after 19 months, at Clarence House, and the meeting lasted roughly an hour. Despite the years of strain over his security arrangements, Harry expressed hope that last week’s reunion would make it easier to balance his life between the US and the UK.
