Prince Harry 'Dragging' War Veterans Into Media Storm Over Terror Report Leak: Royal Expert
Prince Harry's private security team recently submitted a terrifying risk assessment report but royal expert believes the details shouldn't have been made public.
Days before Prince Harry arrived in the UK to mark the 100-day countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, his private security team submitted a scary report to the government. An alleged 40-page risk assessment revealed that the Duke of Sussex had an 'elevated risk' in the UK as terrorists could create a 'mass casualty event' targeting him, as per The Telegraph. These reports emerged as Harry continues to fight for automatic police protection in the UK, and royal expert Shauna Kay weighed in with her take on the unfolding situation.
Writing in her Red Hot Royal Reveals Substack, Kay claimed that King Charles had a strong hold over PR tactics long before he ascended the throne, and had a "habit of floating emotions, ideas and anxieties through the Royal Rota instead of issuing clear, accountable statements". But since he is the monarch now, these practices have turned into a "system". However, he is not the player in the game according to her. Kay further claimed that the Sussexes were “masters” of a “passive-aggressive form of communication”, and added that Harry proved he was “his father’s son” by “leaking a terror‑threat report to ITV’s Chris Ship”.
The royal expert detailed why exactly releasing those details could harm the veterans taking part in the Invictus Games. “That leak didn’t just escalate tensions; it created real‑world consequences for veterans preparing to attend Invictus‑linked events. Many of these men and women live with PTSD or heightened vigilance and need to rely on calm, predictable environments. Dropping a threat assessment into the media days before they attend public engagements is destabilising and irresponsible,” she wrote. The Duke himself is a war veteran, having served the country in Afghanistan for several years. However, Kay added that if he claimed “to champion veterans”, then he shouldn’t have leaked material that increased their ”anxiety”. She further wrote, “Their well-being should be the priority; instead, they are being dragged into a media storm they never asked for.”
But the expert didn’t place the blame for the entire saga only on the Sussexes. She claimed that Buckingham Palace could have “done more to stabilize this narrative by issuing a clear, formal statement to shut down speculation and lock in arrangements”. As per Kay, the royals “allowed the Rota to whip the story into a frenzy,” which in turn made the Firm look “chaotic, needy, and unserious”.
She further mentioned that the rift between the royal family and the Sussexes had started to spill outside the gilded gates, threatening to affect innocents, as both parties engage in press-leaking warfare. “This is not about Harry versus Charles. It is about a communication culture that has replaced leadership with leaks, and it is about the long‑term damage caused when the monarchy forgets how to speak clearly, formally, and responsibly,” she wrote.
Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK visit is drawing closer, and with each passing day, the drama around the much-awaited trip has further intensified. Kay concluded her essay writing, “The Palace needs some long-overdue discipline, and the Sussex operation needs to be shut down; the veterans and the people of the UK and Commonwealth deserve better from both sides.”
