Prince Harry Clarifies ‘Some People’ Remark After It Sparks Speculation About Prince William
Prince Harry’s representatives explained how his comment about “some people” was misunderstood.
Prince Harry recently sat down with GQ’s Zach Baron for an interesting interview, reportedly filmed in September and released recently. During this conversation, the Duke of Sussex was asked about his “complicated relationship” with his elder brother and father, Prince William and King Charles. While discussing his desire to reconcile, he happened to mention that not everyone wants to see that happen, saying, “And some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out.” This became one of his most talked-about comments.
Furthermore, according to a recent PEOPLE report, this comment sparked widespread speculation. Apparently, it left ardent Royal watchers wondering whether he meant the Prince of Wales. However, a spokesperson for the Sussexes later clarified this.
They explained that “Prince Harry’s comment about some people not wanting things to work out was absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family.” They also emphasized that the comment was general and not directed at Harry’s family.
During the interview, the Duke of Sussex opened up about how reconciliation with his family is apparently very important to him. Harry elaborated on this by saying, “With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That’s the key point.”
However, an earlier report made it clear that William doesn’t plan on reaching out to her anytime soon. Tom Sykes, the author of The Royalist Substack, told Page Six that, “Will William respond? I would be astonished if he responded publicly. He never does, and his silence is itself the response!” He further added, “Will it have frustrated him? I’m sure it will. Putting the onus on him through the pages of a magazine is not how you repair a relationship!”
Beyond this, Harry also used the interview to reflect on his decision to unexpectedly move his family back to the United Kingdom and spoke about the grief he has experienced.
