Prince Harry Believes 'the Most Important Thing Is to Reconcile' With Family
The Duke's comments follow years of tension after he and his wife stepped back from their senior royal roles in 2020.
Prince Harry returned to the UK in August with Meghan Markle and his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for an extended period. The Duke reportedly hoped this move would help end his estrangement from his father, King Charles, and elder brother, Prince William. In a latest exclusive with GQ magazine, Harry highlighted his deepest desire to reconcile with his family.

“With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That’s the key point,” Harry told journalist Zac Baron. The sit-down interview was taped when the Duke visited New York in September for the Clinton Global Initiative and was released yesterday. Harry reflected on his complex relationship with Charles and William.
He noted that public fascination with the family's conflicts resonates with common personal experiences of similar disagreements. Calling it a “massively relatable issue for so many people,” he further noted, “There’s sibling disagreements; there are broken relationships between kids and their parents, kids and one parent,” he said. “That continues to come up with me the whole time by people that I speak to, so I know how relatable it is.”

The Duke said the public's fascination with him and others might stem from a desire to learn how they navigate their challenges, suggesting their experiences could offer insights. While acknowledging that some may want to resolve issues, he emphasized his own hope for positive outcomes. “Some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out," he noted.
Further in the interview, he expressed confidence in his ability to overcome past wounds, highlighting the importance of letting go of the past despite the permanence of scars. He also encouraged others to let go of anything that continues to affect their daily lives. “But yeah, for me, there’s enough drama in the world and enough drama in people’s lives than to continue with issues with family," he added.

Harry and William continue to keep their distance; however, the Duke will meet with his father privately in July. Reportedly, the King was happy to meet his grandchildren after a long time.
The Duke's comments follow years of tension after he and his wife stepped back from their senior royal roles in 2020. Harry has publicly addressed his differences with the Royal Family in interviews and his memoir, Spare.
