Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 'Cookie Queens' Gets Second Life With Netflix Rival: Report
Harry and Meghan’s struggling documentary may have just landed an unexpected second chance.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently served as executive producers of the documentary Cookie Queens. However, the film reportedly struggled at the US box office after premiering at Sundance earlier this year. But according to a royal expert, the Sussexes might have been given a second chance as they have landed a new streaming deal.
Things did not exactly get off to a promising start for the documentary. As reported by GB News, the movie made only $327,000 in its opening weekend, despite being released in 446 cinemas. It even missed out on a spot in the top 10 on IMDb’s Box Office Mojo, coming in at No. 13 behind CatVideoFest 2026, which features a collection of cat videos from across the internet.
Nevertheless, the movie may have found a new lease of life. Richard Eden wrote in the Daily Mail that Paramount+ has snapped up the rights to Cookie Queens. The expert pointed to the couple’s 2024 trip to Jamaica, where they attended the premiere of Bob Marley: One Love as guests of Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins. He said, “The couple were there as guests of the film’s producer, Paramount Pictures chief executive Brian Robbins, and it appears that the courtship may have paid dividends.”
Moreover, they were pictured alongside Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who was pushing to remove King Charles as the country’s head of state. Eden remarked, “To add insult to injury, the King was preparing for hospital treatment for an enlarged prostate at the time.”
The move is particularly raising eyebrows given that the streaming service is a major rival to Netflix.
The couple has had a long-standing relationship with Netflix, dating back to 2020 when they signed a reported $100 million deal with the streaming giant. That five-year agreement ended in 2025, but the Duke and the Duchess did not completely part ways with the platform. Instead, they signed a new multi-year first-look deal, which gives Netflix the first opportunity to pick up projects from their Archewell Productions company.
