The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have touched down in the UK today.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were previously revealed to be making a sensational comeback for an 'extended period' and have enrolled their children Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, in local schools. We previously reported that Meghan, 45, is also set to make a huge acting comeback and has been in 'advanced talks' to star in season three of Guy Ritchie's Netflix drama, The Gentleman

The BBC previously reported that the couple are due to land in the country today on a private flight from their longtime home of Montecito, California. Reports also suggested the family of four might be based outside London, potentially in the Cotswolds. Several A-list names have homes nearby in Oxfordshire, including David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Sir Patrick Stewart and Jeremy Clarkson.

A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told the outlet: "This is not something we would comment on". However, the Telegraph has reported that the family have already begun their 'extended stay' and have touched down on UK soil, landing at Birmingham Airport at lunchtime.

Their return comes shortly after their vacation to the country last month, where the family attended a 'private' family tea with The King and Queen at Highgrove in July this year. His Majesty was reportedly told the news of their move earlier this month, although it is understood this was not discussed in their last meeting. The BBC also reports that the Prince and Princess of Wales have been informed of the Sussexes' plans.

Many commentators speculated over a possible reconciliation between Harry and his elder brother Prince William, now that the Duke of Sussex has moved back to his home country. Commentator Bronte Coy previously told The Royal Observer: "It's possible that with the knowledge that he is moving back here, he is putting pressure on William and Catherine in that way." She added: "[These are] going to be the conversations, family events, big family events. ‘[Are] Harry and Meghan invited?’ ‘Did they decline?’ ‘Has the king invited them?’ ‘Will William be attending?’ ‘What does William think of it?’ This is the world that I think all the key players will be very aware of; this is the world they're now stepping into."

Former friend of Meghan Markle, brand expert and royal commentator Nick Ede also admitted The Prince and Princess of Wales would likely treat their UK comeback very cautiously. Speaking with Cafe Casino, Nick claimed: "William and Catherine are likely to be extremely cautious. They will want to protect the stability of their own family and avoid being drawn into another cycle of speculation, private conversations becoming public and every interaction being analysed."

Previously, Catherine famously approached Prince Harry in what many thought was a 'highly choreographed' move during the funeral of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, amid strained relations between the brothers. However, Nick stated that Kate should not be expected to mediate once again. "Catherine has often appeared to be a calming influence," he stated. "But it would be unfair to expect her to act as the person responsible for repairing the relationship between the brothers."
