Piers Morgan Weighs in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Latest Netflix Row: 'This Is Brutal'
Recently, a report criticized the Sussexes' alleged lack of professionalism, claiming that it ended their lucrative partnership with Netflix.
At this point, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear so exhausted by public criticism that they are now pushing back against what they see as false narratives threatening to malign their character. Recently, a blistering March 17 report criticized the couple's alleged lack of professionalism, calling it the final straw that broke up their lucrative partnership with Netflix. While the Sussexes issued a swift rebuttal to the salacious claims, their longtime critic Piers Morgan believes it may be far too late for a comeback.
The British journalist could not resist taking a swipe at Harry and Markle as he retweeted a post by Variety magazine, which read, "After five and a half tumultuous years at Netflix, are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the outs in the streaming kingdom? Insiders say that Meghan Markle has long conveyed that Hollywood is her domain." Sharing his thoughts, Morgan tweeted to his 8.7 million followers, "Wow... this is a brutal (and often hilarious) demolition of the Sussex grifters, by the Hollywood bible." The said article also had a front cover that pointedly read, 'Meghan and Harry's Netflix falling out—Why the royal couple is struggling in Hollywood?'
To add insult to injury, the said Variety article made several damaging allegations against the Sussexes, claiming that their peculiar behavior had "ruffled feathers in meetings." A source alleged that the Duchess would often 'disappear' during official Zoom meetings when things didn't go her way. Moreover, Markle would also allegedly "talk over or recast" Harry's thoughts when he'd be mid-sentence and then touch his arm or thigh during virtual and in-person meetings with Netflix partners. "The mood in the building is 'We're done,'" remarked a Netflix insider.
Criticizing the salacious revelations, Markle's lawyer, Michael J. Kump, penned a sharp-tongued letter to Variety, revealing that she "works from home, is the mother of young children aged 4 and 6, and often encounters children who enter the space unexpectedly during a meeting." As reported by Page Six, he continued, "Nearly all professionals can attest to needing to turn off the audio or camera during a virtual meeting at some point during many hours of virtual business calls." He also insisted that the unverified allegations "seem calculated to play into the misogynistic characterization of her bossing her husband around."
As for Morgan and his brutal opinion on the Sussexes, unsurprisingly, this isn't the first time he has torn into them. During the Sussexes' Jordan trip, he criticized them on his Piers Morgan Uncensored show, "Harry and Meghan, who are right now in the middle of this unofficial royal tour. Of course, they were going to pop up doing something like this, exploiting a weak moment for the monarchy." He was referring to the couple's February 25 visit to Specialty Hospital in Amman, where they met with victims from the Gaza war, while the royal family was dealing with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's scandals.
