Palace Addresses Claim William Threatened Beatrice and Eugenie Amid The Andrew Drama
Things inside the royal household are seemingly changing as quickly as the English weather. Reports recently claimed that Prince William issued an ultimatum to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie that their royal titles would be reconsidered if their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, refused to vacate Royal Lodge. The claim came from broadcaster Emily Maitlis, who suggested that the Prince of Wales held a private meeting with his cousins to pressure them into convincing their parents.
Maitlis said on The News Agent podcast, “There was a question over whether there had been, earlier in the day, a meeting between Prince William and the Princesses, Beatrice and Eugenie, saying you guys have to get your dad to move out of Royal Lodge otherwise we will start re-examining the state of your own titles.” The statement quickly made headlines, reigniting discussions about Andrew’s future at the Grade II-listed Windsor home, a property he still hopes to keep despite ongoing talks with King Charles.
In the wake of the same, Kensington Palace issued a clear response that no such meeting took place, The Mirror reported. The Palace also confirmed that the Prince of Wales has no authority to remove or alter titles, since only the monarch holds that power. The Palace's clarification aligns with earlier reports by GB News that William is keeping a distance from the Royal Lodge talks to keep Beatrice and Eugenie close.
William's approach, though restrained, is hardly passive. He continues to offer quiet support to his cousins while ensuring the Andrew issue doesn't drag the monarchy deeper into controversy and paint his father as a weak king. The Prince of Wales has also reportedly told his sisters they remain blameless in their parents' fall from grace.
After Andrew renounced his titles, he and Ferguson reportedly had a family ‘summit’ at Royal Lodge to discuss their future. While Beatrice was spotted driving into the Estate to support her parents, Eugenie’s absence drew notice. According to the Daily Mail, the ‘summit’ wasn’t 'a happy occasion,' and the family, once close, 'is fractured.' After the meet-up at Windsor, Ferguson was said to have had a ‘meltdown,’ while Beatrice was seen leaving the property deeply unhappy.
