One Royal’s Sweet Gesture Showed Beatrice and Eugenie Are Still Very Much Part of the Family [Watch]

A sweet hug from a young royal may have revealed more about Beatrice and Eugenie's place in the Royal Family than words ever could.

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice have faced much scrutiny since the controversies surrounding their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, and their connection to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced. Following this, the sisters have largely kept a low profile, with reports suggesting that they were sidelined by the Firm and that they would not attend Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperlings’s June 6 wedding. However, these rumors were put to rest after their surprise appearance and affectionate greeting from members of the Firm, suggesting they are still very much part of the family.

If there was any lingering doubt, one sweet moment captured by photographers may have put the speculation to rest. As the Princesses arrived at the wedding with their husbands amid the rainy weather, Mia Tindall could not contain her excitement. The young royal went up to the York sisters and greeted them with a warm hug. Watch the video here.

The 12-year-old is Zara Tindall's daughter, and the moment felt especially meaningful because it came so naturally. Unlike carefully choreographed public appearances, this was simply a young cousin excited to see a family member. They may not be working royals, but Zara and Mike Tindall have never been far from family gatherings. Over the years, their children have shared plenty of sweet moments with their royal relatives, and Mia's affectionate hug for Eugenie showed that those family connections are as strong as ever. Eugenie is not the only royal who seems to have a special place in Mia's heart. Over the years, the young royal has shared several sweet moments with Princess Kate. Mia also appears to be particularly close to Kate’s children, especially Princess Charlotte, with the cousins often spotted chatting and laughing together at family events.

Furthermore, despite ongoing speculation that Prince William had 'frozen out' the York sisters, the scenes at the wedding told a different story. Along with the warm welcome from younger family members, the Prince of Wales was also seen greeting Beatrice with a kiss on the cheek. Through these subtle gestures, the royals appeared to reassure onlookers that the family remains united. The recent outing comes after the sisters faced fresh scrutiny earlier this month after a report from the National Audit Office (NAO) on their housing arrangements revealed that King Charles covers the rent on their royal homes.

Beatrice lives in an apartment at St James's Palace, while Eugenie resides at Kensington Palace, with both properties reportedly rented at reduced rates and funded through the King's private Privy Purse, which draws from the Duchy of Lancaster. The revelations sparked fresh debate about the York sisters' role within the monarchy and led to renewed speculation about where they fit into Charles' vision for a slimmed-down monarchy.
