Charlotte's birthday portrait featured her sitting on a patch of grass in the countryside, flashing a grin in green hiking gear. As per Sky News, the photo was taken by her mom, Kate Middleton, during a visit to Cumbria earlier this year. Middleton broke a significant tradition for Charlotte’s birthday portrait. Hello! Magazine reports that Middleton, who usually uses a professional camera to photograph her children, opted for an iPhone this time.

Instead, Josh Shinner, one of Wales' cherished family photographer’s captured the photo of the young Prince. The Prince and Princess of Wales also broke royal protocol by sharing the picture on the morning of his birthday. Traditionally, birthday portraits of royal children are released at midnight on their special day. They also shared a behind-the-scenes blooper clip of Louis from his birthday photoshoot, which the Waleses had never done before. This can be one of William's many attempts to 'modernize' the monarchy.
