Meghan Wants Harry to be on Good Terms With His Father, Insider Says 'They Need the Royal Family'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven't set foot together on UK soil since 2022, but that might change soon. Word is, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, could be gearing up for a UK visit in the ‘near future.’ The conversations are said to be in early stages, but the very fact that they’re happening is a sign that things are shifting inside the royal fold.

For Markle, she reportedly doesn't intend to rekindle Palace ties or re-enter the royal spotlight. “Meghan knows that Harry won’t be returning to royal duties, but on a human, personal level, [she wants him to be] able to get on good terms with his father,” a source told Page Six, adding that she fully supported Harry’s recent reunion with King Charles. “They need the [royal] family,” a source said, noting that Markle is fully conscious of that reality.
Harry's reunion with his father, brief as it was, marked an important moment. The father and son sat down for tea on September 10, their first face-to-face meeting after 19 months. After years of distance, Charles's extension of the olive branch was seen as a sign that reconciliation might finally be on the table. And the timing was not lost on anyone either. The monarch’s ongoing health battle has made bridges that much more worth building.

However, not everyone in the royal circle seems thrilled at the prospect of the Sussexes crossing the pond again. The tension between Harry and Prince William remains the elephant in the room. Palace sources have hinted that William, while maintaining a public silence, isn’t exactly eager for a family reunion. But the fact that Markle is encouraging Harry’s effort to reconnect could ease at least some of the frost.
The key to softening royal hearts is the Sussex children, who might play the real catalyst here. Charles, insiders say, is deeply aware of how quickly childhood slips away — and how little time he’s had with his youngest grandchildren.

Earlier, before the September meeting had materialized, the children were considered the biggest reason for the thaw. Those close to the monarch had insisted that his desire to mend fences was not driven by royal optics. "I know what the King’s like. He likes everyone to be happy,” Grant Harrold, who served as Charles’s butler for seven years, said. “He likes everyone to get on. So you can guarantee the King without question wants it resolved.”
If the Sussexes do make the trip, it would be their first family visit to the UK since Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, a time when the air was thick with tension. Now, though, the mood feels a touch different. During his recent meeting with the King, Harry reportedly gifted his father a photo of Archie and Lilibet. And if the children are part of the picture this time, perhaps the frost might finally give way to a reconciliation.
