Meghan Markle’s Verdict on Her Pregnant Dance Backlash Revealed — And It’s Just What We Expected

On Princess Lilibet's fourth birthday, on June 4, Meghan Markle posted a rare video of herself dancing in a hospital delivery room alongside Prince Harry to induce labor. The video, which featured Markle twerking to Starrkista's The Baby Mama Dance, created a firestorm online as netizens and critics alike dubbed it as quite 'unroyal'. While royal experts have slammed Markle for dropping such a personal clip, the Duchess of Sussex is reportedly unbothered by the backlash. An insider recently claimed that she is instead happy with the response, as she believes it was a hit among the American youth.
The source, close to the Sussexes, told the Daily Mail, “Meghan is very pleased with the video,” and allegedly considers it a success. They explained, “In the U.K., everyone’s reaction has been a bit prudish, but everywhere else, particularly in America and especially with young people, it has been a huge hit.” The Duchess, who remains focused on her brand, As Ever, thought of the video as a ‘win'. The source said, “She and her team count [the video] as a ‘win,’ which can only be a boost for sales. Her new products are marketed at Americans and not at the U.K. market.” They added, “Meghan doesn’t care about the haters in Britain calling her vulgar. Americans thought the twerking video was hilarious and relatable.”

While Markle is pleased, a Palace insider has revealed that the royal family was horrified, finding the stunt ‘tragic'. The insider claimed, “There is a general sense [in the Palace] that they have lost it.” The source further alleged that the video led to “a lot of raised eyebrows” within the Firm. Reflecting on the same, royal expert Jennie Bond revealed what King Charles would have thought of the ‘astonishing’ video. She opined, “If the King has watched it…I’m sure he would be horrified. Royalty has to carry with it some measure of dignity.”
Experts also issued Markle the brutal new nickname, the 'Duchess of Privacy', for her alleged hypocrisy in wishing for privacy, yet sharing the intimate clip of her and her husband. Many were mainly irked to see the Prince dancing in the video and claimed Markle did not take his former royal position into consideration. Others supported the Duchess and were happy to see her and Harry enjoying and excited for Lilibet's birth.

The controversial video has garnered over 47 million views on Instagram. Besides the video, Markle, on her daughter's birthday, also shared some never-before-seen pictures of Lilibet. In the caption of one of the posts, the mother-of-two wrote, “Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today, she came into our lives, and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!”
