Meghan Markle’s Australia High Has Her Eyeing Something Princess Kate Has Long Had
According to sources, the outpouring of love Meghan Markle received in Australia has 'lit a fire' to keep the momentum going.
Meghan Markle is said to be riding high after her four-day Australia tour, convinced that she can win hearts without the palace's support. Sources now claim the Duchess of Sussex wishes to keep this momentum ongoing, determined to channel Princess Diana's charm and outshine her feuding sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. Tired of constant comparisons to the Princess of Wales, Markle, who charmed the Aussies throughout the visit, is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Speaking to In Touch, the insider spilled, "In her [Markle's] mind, it proves everything she's been saying all along. She doesn't need the palace machine to shine because she just naturally connects with people in a way that feels far more authentic and modern." Describing how the outpouring of love and affection from the Aussies has 'lit a fire' in her, they added, "She wants to keep this momentum going. There are plenty of places to travel to next." They further alleged that the Duchess of Sussex was 'determined' to make herself the new 'Queen of Hearts', aka a nickname given to the late Princess Diana, as she loves being seen as a huge success on this kind of stage.
Additionally, the source stressed how, "If anything, it's only reinforced her [Markle's] belief that she can best Kate when it comes to what she can accomplish." Indeed, Markle's attempt to outshine her has surely gotten to the Princess of Wales, as she is reportedly said to be annoyed by her Australia tour. Weighing in on the same, an insider told OK! magazine, "Kate generally believes Meghan is the one shaping the direction of these decisions, and in this instance, she feels the judgment behind it was flawed. She is particularly disappointed that Harry did not seem to recognize how poorly it would be received, especially at a time when the family is under such intense scrutiny and sensitivity is key."
It's not just Middleton; even Prince William is allegedly quite irritated with the Sussexes' attempt to recreate their past life — the very life they wanted to break free of — and constantly attempts to upstage them. The source argued, "William is deeply irritated by what he sees as a contradiction at the heart of Harry and Meghan's actions. They have made a very public break from royal life and been openly critical of the institution, yet they continue to carry out engagements that closely resemble official duties." From the Prince's perspective, that contradiction reportedly creates an impression of something carefully curated rather than authentic, which explains his strong reaction.
For palace strategists, Harry and Markle no longer function as defectors but as an unnecessary headache. They have gone as far as speculating that the couple wants something more. Speaking of the same, an insider previously told OK! magazine, "They [Harry and Markle] will simply want to replace William and Kate as The Firm's senior figures if they return to the royal family – Harry's vanity and Meghan's ego will dictate that."
