Harry and Meghan Are ‘Beaming’ in Their Australia Trip — but Insiders Slam the ‘Sloppy’ Brand Tour
Harry and Meghan look happy in Australia, but outside their bubble, people are starting to question what this trip is really about
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle kicked off their Australian tour on April 14 and have visited several places related to mental health, veterans, and community visits. However, not everyone is convinced by their ‘quasi-royal tour.’ Even though the trip is privately funded and they flew commercial, questions are being raised regarding the purpose of their elaborate trip, and especially the ‘thrown-together’ schedule.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex started the tour by visiting the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, connecting with children, families, and staff. An insider told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice, “They were beaming. To them, this feels like a reset — like everything is working.” They continued, “Australia has always been special to them,” the source says. “They feel welcomed, appreciated — it’s a safe space.”
According to the insider, Markle’s visit carried a more personal touch as she had specifically chosen the shelter herself, “She wanted to be seen doing something meaningful.” Harry, on the other hand, seemed completely at ease throughout the engagement: “Relaxed, grateful — thanking everyone.” And yet, there are still a lot of questions many have.
For starters, another source said people are starting to wonder what the trip is actually about, “And no one seems to have a clear answer.” With it being privately funded and having no official royal role, the whole thing is raising some eyebrows. The insider summed it up pretty bluntly, saying, “It feels a bit thrown together. More like a brand tour than anything structured.”
As for how it is being viewed behind palace walls, an insider says there is little concern. One source claimed, “They’re not worried at all. If anything, they think it looks a little sloppy — like it’s being run by amateurs.” The source also pointed out that if this were something serious, there would likely be a response, but the silence speaks for itself. “Harry and Meghan think it’s a triumph,” the insider says. “Outside their bubble — the jury’s still out,” the source added.
The first day ended after the royal couple made an appearance at the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum in Melbourne. They met with veterans and joined a pottery class. On Day 2 of the trip, it mostly focused on Harry flying solo. He met the AFL stars at the Western Bulldogs training ground and headed to Canberra after. The schedule also included a visit to the Australian War Memorial. Meanwhile, Markle had no major public appearances scheduled for the second day.
Day 3 started with the couple going on an Aboriginal Walking Tour, followed by a Youth Mental Health Visit. Later, Harry will be delivering a speech as one of the keynote speakers at InterEdge Summit. On day 4 in Sydney, Prince Harry is set to take part in an Invictus-linked sailing event and attend a rugby match at Allianz Stadium. At the same time, Markle will headline a high-end “Her Best Life” wellness retreat, including a speaking session and gala-style event.
