Meghan Markle's As Ever Has a New Rival — and It's Someone She Once Called Family
Meghan Markle's old friend that she reportedly had a fallout with has now launched her own lifestyle brand, now becoming a competitor.
When Meghan Markle entered the lifestyle space with her brand, As Ever, in 2025, she was already up against Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, which was a mammoth in the industry. But now she may also find a new professional rival in her old friend, Jessica Mulroney. The Canadian fashion stylist recently launched Haus of Her, a private members’ club and community space designed for “women in the middle of a defining transition”.
Speaking of women currently in a big transition, Markle moved to the UK last week for an extended stay. While the exact details of why she and Prince Harry have chosen to cross the pond are still under wraps, the move has left many wondering about the future of As Ever. The brand’s recently launched Reserve Brut has proven the brand will continue to thrive despite the migration. So, the raging question now is whether the Duchess of Sussex will expand her business to the UK and Europe.
Certainly, she is taking steps to get ahead in the lifestyle industry that Mulroney has recently entered. Haus of Her is hosting a ‘Make Your Own Scent’ event on September 15th at Orris Labs in Toronto and will send subscribers “curated monthly boxes”. While As Ever displays Markle’s love for cooking, organic produce, and her Californian roots, Haus of Her is built for women “reinvesting in themselves”.
The Duchess reportedly met Mulroney on the sets of Suits, where the latter helped select her looks. The fashion stylist played a big part in Markle and Harry’s dreamy 2018 wedding at St. George’s Chapel. Her daughter, Ivy, was a bridesmaid alongside Princess Charlotte, and her twin sons, Brian and John, were page boys with Prince George, holding the bride’s veil up the church steps. However, the close bond reportedly fell apart in 2020 after Mulroney got into a feud with Canadian influencer Sasha Exeter.
Mulroney initially denied the claims of a rift in an Instagram story that was later deleted, according to reports. “I’m going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me every day. Tabloid culture is atrocious. It creates lies and hurtful storyline. Stop feeding into it. Done,” she wrote. However, earlier this year Mulroney’s former husband, Ben, revealed a “positive” update about the friendship via PEOPLE. “It’s Jess’ story to tell. I wouldn’t speak for her, so if she ever wants to talk about it, but from what I understand, they are on positive terms.”
Well, if not a professional competitor, Markle could certainly enroll herself in the Haus of Her, considering she is a woman reinvesting in herself, or at least her acting career. The 45-year-old is reportedly in talks for a part in The Gentlemen season 3 and is fielding several acting offers.
