Peace in the House of Windsor is hanging by a thread as the York family has seemingly taken it upon themselves to shake up things yet again. This time, it is not Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor but his daughter, Princess Eugenie, who reportedly made an unexpected misstep that has King Charles deeply "jarred." The disappointment is even more dire as just three weeks ago, the monarch had extended an olive branch to Eugenie by publicly congratulating her on her third pregnancy.

So, what did Eugenie do that has left the King hurt? As per reports from the Daily Mail, Eugenie sparked concern after attending a promotional event in London for Discovery Dunes, an ultra-luxury Dubai-based golfing and real-estate development. Her decision to attend the event raised eyebrows because of perceived links to the type of business ventures long associated with her father, Mountbatten-Windsor.

The project itself is connected to Eugenie's husband, Jack Brooksbank, who is involved with the development business. Detailing the King's dismay over the situation, an insider told the outlet, "Seeing Eugenie following in her father's footsteps, and in a high-profile way so soon after the King publicly put a metaphorical arm around her shoulder by organizing a Palace announcement of her pregnancy, has jarred." They added how the King's recent supportive gesture towards Eugenie made her subsequent involvement in the event all the more notable.

The insider detailed how Eugenie walking into her father's shoes has left the King upset. "Barely three weeks later, Eugenie, I am told, promptly blotted her copybook when she attended a promotional event in London for Discovery Dunes, an ultra-luxury Dubai-based golfing and real-estate development, exactly the kind of project that her father, whose love of golf, money, and the UAE apparently had no bounds, would have once become involved with," said the source.

The monarch's unhappiness comes against a backdrop of wider concerns surrounding the York. According to the report, there has been unease within royal circles about the influence of Mountbatten-Windsor and some of his former business associates on Eugenie and her sister, Princess Beatrice. And while the King has always stood by his nieces, how long will he be able to defend them if they continue with their ways?
