King Charles was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024, following treatment for an enlarged prostate. Since then, he has scaled back on royal duties, leaning on Prince William, Queen Camilla, and Prince Edward for support. Though he’s made appearances at major royal events, an insider claimed his health is far from improving. They revealed the monarch has refused chemotherapy and is looking to meet Prince Harry.
Despite Harry's bombshell interview with the BBC earlier this month, Charles allegedly plans to see him during his upcoming Canada visit. A source dished to News Nation that while Harry’s remarks were “unforgivable, as health matters are sacrosanct,” he was right to be worried about his father. They said, “Charles is indeed a sick man, and he does have cancer. He also refused chemotherapy and decided on a less invasive treatment. While Harry and his dad aren’t speaking, Harry would be aware of all of this via back channels.” Harry, in his BBC interview, had said, “Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has, he won't speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile.”
Charles will be in Canada on May 26-27 to open the Canadian parliament. He is set to give a ‘throne speech.’ This would allegedly open the door for him to travel to the United States and perhaps even see his son and grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The insider's comments on Charles' declining health came shortly after royal expert Tom Skyes claimed in a podcast, “Succession plans are gearing up…no one is really expecting Charles to live, you know, more than three or four years.” He added, “Speaking to friends of the King in recent weeks about his health, the most common response is…‘It’s not good.” Reports also indicate that the monarch’s health has left William feeling very nervous as he is next in line to the throne. Another source also told Page Six, “Charles is determined to beat it, and they are throwing everything at it. Everyone is staying optimistic, but he is really very unwell.”
Charles recently also spoke about his condition to a student, Stamford Collis, at The Education and Skills Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on May 14. As reported by The New York Times, Collis dished, “He was asking me about the treatment I have started in June and spoke to me about food and diet. He also asked me if I had undergone radiation treatment.” The royal was also heard saying, “It’s sometimes about the diet and what you eat. It can help.” Back in December, Palace sources had confirmed in a statement that the monarch’s “treatment has been moving in a positive direction, and as a managed condition, the treatment cycle will continue into next year.”
