Harry and Meghan Urged to Address a Key Issue as They Move in Hollywood Circles

According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, the couple's 'photogate' incident showed flaws in their PR strategy.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made headlines after they attended Kris Jenner's 70th birthday bash on November 8, 2025, just days before Remembrance Day. Kim Kardashian later removed photos of the couple from social media, citing respect for the solemn occasion. Commenting on the chaotic turn of events, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams believes that the incident exposed the Sussexes' PR missteps.

Speaking to GB News, Fitzwilliams believed that Harry and Markle must now manage their public image cautiously in the media, especially while moving in A-list celebrity circles. He said, "You can see why Meghan wanted to be with all those A-listers, because that's what she failed to get supporting her, particularly with the podcasts and the cookery show. A-listers are something that she needs to be seen with, and you can understand why they went." According to him, the royal couple's poor planning in allowing the photographs to be shared, and then asking for them to be deleted, illustrated 'the chaotic nature of their PR.'

Fitzwilliams further slammed, "Harry had a poppy, and she [Markle] didn't…Usually, if one wears it, the other would wear it. And we know how strongly Harry feels about the military." The expert revealed that, after the incident, the pair lost over 11 top advisors, and the Sussexes suddenly realized, "Oh my goodness, we'll be seen in it, so think what they'll think of us. It's clearly very disjointed."

While Harry and Markle's attendance at the Kardashian party was widely criticized, the royal expert suggested it also showed their ability to attract global-scale attention. He said, "The advantage is that they've still got a brand that everything they do is news, including the bad bits. The disadvantage, of course, is the mistakes." Highlighting the change in the Sussexes' PR strategy, he stressed that during the initial period when they were stepping down as senior working royals, they always had the royal family on the defensive, and 'were utterly ruthless' in controlling their narrative.

And for the unversed, the drama didn't end with the deletion of the pictures. Most recently, Kim chose to clear the air on their 'photogate.' Speaking on Khloe Kardashian's podcast, Khloe in Wonder Land, she said, "Mom and Meghan have been friends for some years now, and they have a really sweet relationship. We were told that it was totally cool to post." She continued, "And then after it was posted, I think they realized it was Remembrance Day, and they didn't want to be seen at a party, even though it's already up, you know..."
