Girl, 8, Gives Kate Middleton a Sweet Piece of Advice At Her Wimbledon Appearance: ‘Don’t Be…’

Kate Middleton made her much-awaited appearance at Wimbledon on the thirteenth day of the championship, July 12. The Princess of Wales was welcomed with a standing ovation at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club as she waved at everyone, smiling. However, before making her way to the Royal box, the Princess received a piece of advice from a young girl.

Middleton, clad in an elegant light yellow ensemble, met an eight-year-old girl named Lydia Lowe who had recently overcome a health battle herself, after suffering a brain injury. She performed the coin toss at the women’s wheelchair final. Upon meeting the little girl, Middleton shook her hand and asked her if she was nervous about the coin toss. The Princess also asked, “Have you got any advice for me? Because I've got to go out.” According to the Daily Mail, Lowe, in response, said, “Don't be nervous. Take deep breaths.” An elated Middleton repeated, “Take deep breaths? OK, I'll remember that. Thank you.” She further complimented the little girl for how she carried herself. She asked, “What does it mean to you to come and do this?” The eight-year-old replied, “It means loads to me.”

Lowe was representing the Dan Maskell Tennis Trust, a charity organisation that supports players with disabilities with specialized equipment and grants. Besides her, Middleton also had a sweet exchange with 12-year-old Sophie Keen, who performed the coin toss at the women’s singles final. Keen, who represented the AFC Wimbledon Foundation, revealed details about her conversation with the Princess and said, “It was so, so good, and I'm really honored to be able to meet her.” She added, “She asked me a bit about the charity I'm with, and I said how they try and encourage young girls to play sports.” Middleton also asked the women’s wheelchair singles champion Wang Ziying if she had a ‘good game.’ She further said to the player, “It's very hot playing in this weather, isn't it?” The Princess added, “It must be nice to celebrate at Wimbledon.”

Middleton’s appearance at the game came after she accompanied her family during French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit. Being a patron of the club, she attended the final matches of the prestigious championship and presented the trophy to Iga Swiatek, who defeated Amanda Anisimova by 6-0, 6-0 in the final match and won the title for the first time. According to People magazine, the Princess also attended the fourteenth day of the championship dressed in a beautiful blue dress, this time with her husband, Prince William, and children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. She presented the championship cup to Jannik Sinner of Italy, who won the title after winning the final match against Carlos Alcaraz of Spain.
