Andrew’s Recent Clash with Prince Edward Raises New Questions For King Charles
Andrew reportedly behaved “ridiculously” toward Prince Edward over his forced residence shift.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s living arrangements have constantly been in the headlines ever since he was forced to vacate his former residence, the Royal Lodge. King Charles ordered him to vacate the property due to his mounting legal controversies related to links with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. While he has now shifted to a new permanent residence, Marsh Farm, royal commentator Mark Dolan claims that convincing him wasn't easy. Andrew reportedly behaved 'ridiculously' with his younger brother, Prince Edward, raising questions about the King’s growing vulnerability within the royal fold.
In a recent interview, Dolan revealed that the former Prince refused to vacate his temporary residence, Wood Farm, which is located on the Sandringham Estate, leaving Prince Edward and Sophie with no choice but to spend their Easter in a rented holiday home. As reported by the Daily Express, the Royal commentator said, "I mean, so this is a wild story, isn't it? He won't budge from Wood Farm." He then went on to explain the situation further, saying, "I don't know what is going on with Andrew. We know he's got shocking taste in friends, but this is arrogance. This is hubris in the extreme. And we're still seeing images of him driving around in a Range Rover, giving it large."
To this, the host, JJ Anisiobi, opined that Andrew was making the King look powerless, as he said, "I think he's [Andrew] making King Charles look like an absolute powerless fool. The King has been gracious enough to let him stay in one of his many palatial homes, and Andy is like, 'No, I'm going to stay here for a bit longer." Dolan echoed this view, claiming that the monarch himself is to blame for the situation right now, as he failed to take stronger action against his brother. He said, "It's really embarrassing. And you've got to the nub of it, which is how outrageously weak Charles is. He's a complete invertebrate."
Dolan went on to add that he liked Charles, insisting that the King's reign was being dominated by issues surrounding Prince Harry and Andrew. However, he questioned the dynamic between the King and his younger brother, adding, “Why is Charles so in hock to Andrew? Why can't he have the whip hand over him? He's the older brother. He's the King. But there's something going on there in that family dynamic that makes it difficult for him to deal with Andrew comprehensively.”
Meanwhile, it's worth mentioning that Andrew shifted to Wood Farm earlier this year as his permanent home was undergoing some renovations. During this phase, the King was never seen visiting his brother, but it is unclear if they have spoken over the phone. Speaking of Andrew's arrest, Charles previously said, "I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office." He has also been completely supportive of the cops and the ongoing investigation.
