Crown's Grand Celebration

Trooping the Colour is one of the most important events in the royal calendar. The celebration marks the official birthday of the British monarch, and for centuries it has been a major event in the royal household. The centuries-old military parade dates back to the 17th century and traditionally features hundreds of soldiers, musicians and horses in a display of pageantry. Today, the event also serves as a public show of unity within the royal family, with senior working royals gathering on the Buckingham Palace balcony. This year, King Charles is expected to be joined by several key members of the royal family as they celebrate the occasion.

Leading the Festivities

First and foremost, Charles and Queen Camilla will lead the royal contingent at Trooping the Colour, continuing a tradition that has become a highlight of the monarch's annual schedule. Former royal press secretary Dickie Arbiter described the event as the King's way of thanking family members who support the Crown through their public duties at home and abroad. The royal couple is expected to take center stage throughout the celebrations and during the iconic balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace.

Next in line are the ones expected to play a prominent role: Prince William and Princess Kate. The pair will be present at the event alongside their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The Wales family has become a major attraction at Trooping the Colour in recent years, especially with Louis' goofy antics hitting a chord with onlookers.

As per IB Times, the other confirmed attendees are Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, as well as Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. They have become increasingly visible representatives of the monarchy lately and are expected to join the senior royals throughout the day's events.

Present... Maybe?

Present... Maybe?

James, Earl of Wessex, is expected to be present as well. But his sister, Lady Louise, is highly likely to give it a miss as she is back in Scotland for university. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are also expected to attend the festivities, although their participation has not been officially confirmed. Similarly, Anne's kids, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, and their spouses may also be present. Although it's a big if, given Mike Tindall has only been part of it just once during the Queen's 90th. As for Peter, he's been a frequent sight in earlier years, even joining with his ex-wife Autumn and their daughters. But considering the scaling back of non-working royals and his very recent wedding to Harriet Sperling, the chances are rather slim.

Expected Absence

Expected Absence

Some notable members of the royal family, however, will be absent. As expected, Prince Harry and his family will not attend this year's Trooping the Colour, continuing his absence from the event since stepping back from royal duties. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson are not expected to take part in this year's celebrations.
