5 Stunning Photos of Harriet Phillips We're Still Not Over From Royal Ascot
When Harriet Met the Royal Family
Harriet Phillips was an instant crowd favorite the moment her wedding to Peter Phillips was announced. And in the coming weeks, her popularity only grew further. Her appearance at Royal Ascot last week, was enough evidence just how much her influence on the fans was. Despite making only two appearances, she was one of the stars of the week-long show.
A Royal Arrival
On opening day, Harriet rolled down the racecourse in a carriage alongside her husband, Peter, and mother-in-law, Princess Anne. Harriet's decision to make her post-nuptial debut at a racing event must have certainly hit the right chord with her Olympic equestrian mother-in-law. The two women looked absolutely at ease with each other as they arrived for the event. It won't be a stretch to assume that the Princess Royal will take her daughter-in-law under her wing, helping her navigate the palace halls with conviction and confidence, just as she has for years.
Wedding Whites
Harriet really channelled all her bridal energy into her Royal Ascot looks. On opening day, she had donned something blue, with a baby-blue Suzannah London dress, and then she closed the week with a beautiful white lace outfit from Beulah London, which was reminiscent of her wedding gown. For her nuptials, the new bride had opted for a high-column Emily Wickstead dress with intricate lace detailing. The two ensembles certainly resembled each other, and the fans felt the same way.
Royalty Meets Modernity
A champagne flute in her hand and a 'Mrs. Peter Phillips' badge on her dress, Harriet was a testament to royal traditions meeting modernity at Royal Ascot. She chose to follow the tradition of married women styling themselves by their husbands' names when she appeared at the racecourse. However, at the same time, she is a modern, independent woman working as an NHS nurse. At Royal Ascot, she didn't shy away from the spotlight, nor did she get nervous. Harriet instead embraced it and emerged as the star of the show, especially in her popular sister-in-law, Kate Middleton's absence.
Lovebirds
Harriet and Peter looked very much still in their honeymoon phase during their Royal Ascot appearances last week. The newly-married couple couldn't keep their hands off each other and were often caught stealing loving glances as they watched the races from the gallery.
Royal Twins
On the first day of Royal Ascot, Harriet pulled a daring move when she opted to wear blue at the same time as Queen Camilla. Usually, royal protocol dictates that royals cannot wear the same color as the senior female members. However, it was reported that Camilla had relaxed the rules regarding her favorite color as Middleton and Duchess Sophie were equally fond of blue, as long as it's not the same shade. It seems that Harriet has also joined the blue-loving trio recently. Her risky choice indicates as much.
