8 Royals Who Might Not Want to See Archie and Lilibet When They Visit the UK
Not a Full House
As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's July visit to the UK draws closer, speculation about a possible royal reunion has become rife. It is also being reported that the couple might bring along their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with them, marking their first visit to the UK in four years. However, even with a royal reconciliation on the cards, Archie and Lilibet might not get to meet all of their British family members. Here's taking a look at 8 family members who may not meet the Sussexes in the UK.
Prince William and Kate Middleton
Prince William and Kate Middleton are technically two of the Sussexes' closest relatives in the royal family - by blood. However, the alleged bad blood between them can become a barrier for the Wales to meet their nephew and niece next month. It had earlier been reported that William and Middleton will likely not be at Balmoral when Harry and Markle will reportedly visit the castle to meet King Charles. Unfortunately, that would also mean that Archie and Lilibet won't get to meet their first cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis either.
Queen Camilla
Although Charles has reportedly been the frontrunner in making the royal reunion possible, he might not find much support from his wife, Queen Camilla, in this matter. Harry had not minced his words when writing about the Queen Consort and her relationship with the press in his bombshell memoir, Spare. Given the history, it's not likely that Camilla will meet Archie and Lilibet when they come to the UK.
Peter and Harriet Phillips
The chatter around the royal family's rift with the Sussexes had peaked when Peter Phillips seemingly didn't invite Harry and Markle to his wedding with Harriet Phillips two weeks back. A source close to the couple had said via Marie Claire that the two cousins hadn't "spoken for several years" and had 'simply lost touch.' That was the apparent reason behind the snub. Considering the emotional distance, it seems unlikely that Peter and Harriet would have a part in the reunion.
Mike Tindall
Mike Tindall has rarely been a part of the controversy surrounding the royal family and the Sussexes. In fact, he used to be close to Harry before the latter's move to the US. However, Tindall recently hinted at the distance between him and his brother-in-law through a joke during his podcast. While teasing his friends about their behaviour during his wedding with Zara Tindall, the retired rugby player said via HELLO!, "A lot of other people managed that way better than you – (like) Harry, when he was fun." Tindall could certainly have been the fun uncle to Archie and Lilibet, given the pranks that he likes to pull, but it might not be on the cards.
Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie
Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie are two of the strongest pillars of the monarchy, the same institution that the Sussexes have been criticising directly and indirectly over the past several years. Last year, a friend of the Duchess revealed to HELLO! that she was actually "relieved" she didn't have to curtsey to Markle anymore. "She no longer has to curtsey to someone in the family who has not only left royal duties but has spent the past three years criticising the institution that Sophie works so hard to support," the friend added. It appears improbable that Edward and Sophie will meet with Archie and Lilibet next month.
