5 Hints Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Dropped Before Their UK Return
Will the Sussexes Return?
Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the UK, one question has always been a constant: will they ever come back? Over the years, there has been much speculation, but this time there may be some telltale signs. Although an official announcement is yet to come, some of their recent choices have made the question feel a little less far-fetched than it once did.
The Highgrove Family Reunion
One of the biggest signs came in July during Harry’s UK return. He was in the country to promote the upcoming Invictus Games in Birmingham, and Markle was supposed to join him as well, but plans changed due to security concerns. However, she joined him later along with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet for a private visit to Highgrove. King Charles was finally reunited with his grandchildren after four years. The meeting took place in extreme secrecy, with even Prince William and Princess Kate reportedly left out of the loop. This has raised questions about the Sussex family’s eventual return to Britain.
The ‘Wasp’ Steps Down
The news about Sir Clive Alderton, one of King Charles’ most senior aides, stepping down from his role next year also raises eyebrows. Alderton is widely believed to be the man Harry referred to as “the Wasp” in Spare, where he described the royal aide as charming and polite on the surface but far more harmful when crossed. The senior aide has been a key part of Charles’ inner circle for years, so his departure naturally caught attention, especially now that Harry and his father appear to have reunited.
Quiet Questions About British Schools
Harry may have been quietly thinking about life back in Britain. In September 2025, singer Joss Stone revealed that the Duke had asked her about moving her family back to the UK after they had spent years living in Nashville. She told HELLO!, “He was saying how wonderful the schools are here and how important community is for children. It was nice to share that with him because it’s exactly why we felt drawn to come back.” BBC has recently reported that Archie and Lilibet have enrolled in a British school and classes will start in September. So, looking back, Harry might have been dropping major hints rather than just small talk.
Investing in a European Base
According to a report by PEOPLE, Harry and Meghan reportedly bought a property at the exclusive CostaTerra development in Melides. Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie and her family also spend time in the country. The Sussexes even made a trip to Portugal this summer for a family holiday. With their main home still in California, having a base in Portugal gives the family an easier foothold in Europe, including when Harry needs to travel back to Britain. It may not have been bought with a UK return in mind, but it certainly makes the transit to the UK more seamless.
Taking As Ever Overseas
Markle’s As Ever was built in America, but it was never really tied to one place. The lifestyle brand has been able to operate independently of where the family is living, and that flexibility suddenly looks pretty useful now. A report by PEOPLE said that the Duchess will continue running As Ever from the UK while the family keeps its homes in California and Portugal. So even though the brand began as a very California-based venture, there was nothing stopping Markle from taking the business with her if life in Britain became part of the plan.
