5 Times Meghan Markle Hinted She Misses Acting More Than She Lets On

Meghan Markle left acting behind when she joined the Royal Family, marrying Prince Harry in 2018. While stepping away from her role as Rachel Zane on Suits after seven seasons wasn't easy, the Duchess did it for love. However, leaving the profession did not necessarily mean leaving that world completely. Over the years, Markle has continued to stay connected with the entertainment industry, from keeping in touch with former co-stars to working on Netflix projects. At times, she has even hinted that she missed parts of her old life on set.

One of the earliest hints came just two months after Markle married Harry. During a July 2018 visit to the Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin, she reportedly spoke to fan Fiona Moore about Suits. In a conversation with the Daily Mail, Moore recalled telling Markle, "[I told her] I'm a fan of Suits and I said to her that I miss it." She claimed that the Duchess replied, "So do I." If the account is accurate, it suggests Markle was already feeling nostalgic about her acting days just weeks after becoming a royal.

While it's been almost a decade since her last acting stint, Markle clearly remembers the feeling of being in front of the camera. During the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast in July 2025, talking about With Love, Meghan, the Duchess, said, "Actually, having a large team, being back on set with With Love, Meghan was great because I realized how much I had missed my crew. I love being around a crew." She also recalled, "For seven years, that's a really strong connection. And I loved the crew." Her admission divulged how being back on a set brought back something she had missed.

Markle may have hinted that she missed acting to a fan in 2018, but she was much more open about those feelings during a 2025 appearance on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast. When Grede asked if she sometimes longed to return to acting, Markle admitted, "Sometimes, sometimes." She explained that while leaving Suits, she did not get the chance to properly say goodbye. "We couldn't say I was leaving, necessarily. It was speculated," Markle said. She continued, "So, after seven years on the series, we couldn't have a going away party. I couldn't say my goodbyes."

Markle may have left acting behind when she joined the Royal Family, but she never completely walked away from the entertainment world. Instead, she shifted toward producing, podcasting, and lifestyle projects through Archewell. She recently, via her company, Archewell Productions, renewed a multi-million-dollar production contract with Netflix, under which the OTT giant gets the first option to review and approve their film and television projects. Markle might not be working as an actress any longer, but her link to the entertainment industry is still going strong.

The acting comeback rumors are becoming harder to ignore. Markle has been linked to reports about a possible role in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen Season 3. Reacting to the speculation, cast member Kaya Scodelario told 3rd Hour of Today that the Duchess joining the show could be possible. “I think what’s wonderful about our show is we have these characters pop up, and we get these great guest actors to come in, sprinkle a little bit of their magic into the characters, and make really memorable scenes about them," she hinted. Previously, Theo James also kept the door open, saying, "In terms of the minutiae, I mean, it’s still very much up in the air.” While neither cast member has confirmed Markle's involvement, it is also noteworthy that the Sussexes' team has not publicly refuted the rumors, particularly as the couple's representatives have previously been quick to clear up speculation surrounding their projects.
