Zara Tindall Greets King Charles Not Once, but Thrice at Ascot — And His Reaction Was Priceless [Watch]
Zara Tindall's affectionate greeting for King Charles at Royal Ascot offered a rare glimpse into their close bond.
Royal Ascot is always a glamorous family affair, but the real highlight was the sweet bond between King Charles and Zara Tindall. The uncle and niece duo proved their bond is as strong as ever when Zara greeted her uncle with an elaborate, three-part welcome.
Opening day at Royal Ascot was a star-studded family affair. Inside the exclusive Royal Enclosure, Tindall and Charles stole the show with a sweet, multi-part greeting. Ready for the moment, Zara slipped off her sunglasses before dropping into a quick curtsy, waving, and planting a kiss on the King's cheek. The affectionate display didn't stop there—she was also spotted warmly touching the monarch's arm as they caught up. Watch the video here!
Expanding the warm family greetings, the professional equestrian also welcomed Queen Camilla with a curtsy and a cheek kiss. Prior to this, Zara had a brief, comical exchange with her husband, Mike Tindall, after catching him distracted by his phone. The humor continued when Mike went to greet the King; as he lifted his top hat, an unexpected item fell right out, prompting chuckles and a bit of gentle teasing from the group.
A little later, Tindall was seen spending time with Harriet Sperling, who officially became part of the family earlier this month. The outing marked Harriet's first appearance at Royal Ascot since tying the knot with Peter Phillips on June 6. She was seen at the Royal Procession alongside her mother-in-law, Princess Anne.
As one of the five-day event's biggest highlights, the Royal Procession sees the King and fellow royals make a grand entrance in traditional horse-drawn carriages before the racing begins. While Ascot is rooted in equestrian sport, it has evolved over the decades into a massive cultural and fashion spectacle. Joining King Charles and Queen Camilla for the opening day festivities were other prominent members of the family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales with their three children.
Mike has previously opened up about why Royal Ascot remains one of his favorite events on the royal calendar. Speaking earlier this year on The Luxury Dispatch with Tom Chamberlin, he revealed that as the procession makes its way onto the racecourse and the national anthem begins to play, the atmosphere completely changes. “It's quite special,” he said.
