You Can Now Holiday Next to Prince William and Kate Middleton at Sandringham Estate

The luxurious Sandringham estate has been a cherished haven for the royal family across generations. Queen Elizabeth II’s grandfather, King George, couldn’t speak highly enough of it—and today, Prince William and Kate Middleton often slip away to Anmer Hall for a well-deserved vacation. Now, thanks to a thoughtful move by King Charles, you too can enjoy a slice of royalty with a stay at The Folly in Sandringham.
Earlier, the public was only offered a basic tour of the estate whenever the Waleses were away. As reported by Town & Country magazine, Charles, in partnership with Oliver’s Travels, has transformed one of the properties on the vast 20,000-acre estate into a holiday rental. The three-bedroom turreted cottage dates back nearly as far as the main royal residence, which was gifted by Queen Victoria to her eldest son, the future Edward VII, in 1862. Originally, The Folly served as a serene spot for hosting ladies for tea, but royal history suggests it may have also been a discreet meeting place for Edward and his mistress, Lillie Langtry.
Unsurprisingly, a stay in a royal residence wouldn’t be complete without bumping into a few regal relics along the way. Upgrades such as the William Morris wallpaper, vintage furniture, and antiques from the royal family’s private collection further enhance the vibe. Another notable factor is the estate's magnificent woodlands, gardens, and trails found in the backyard of The Folly. As per The Sun, Agency Oliver’s Travels, which is marketing the house, states, “The Folly honors its romantic past while embracing modern comfort. Period features — stone hearths, arched entryways, hand-finished doors — have been lovingly preserved. Throughout the house, royal artefacts from the private collection add depth and authenticity.”
During peak times of the year, the holiday home is listed for a dazzling $8,572 a week to rent. It can host up to six guests and comes with a drawing room, dining room, kitchen, bootroom, and three bedrooms. The lucky folks staying also have access to the 20,000-acre parkland around the property to explore during their vacation. The Mirror reports that Charles could make a whopping $1.78 million from his holiday let portfolio. Other holiday retreats in his royal portfolio include the Duchy of Cornwall with rentals across the UK.
As far as the Waleses are concerned, it is reported that William and Middleton often visit Anmer Hall in Norfolk, Sandringham for ‘secret’ date nights. The Prince and Princess of Wales regularly take their three children on holiday to Anmer. For decades, the royal family has celebrated Christmas at Sandringham, a tradition since the days of the late Queen Elizabeth. The festivities include attending church service at St. Mary Magdalene and a formal lunch at the estate. However, Charles is said to prefer Balmoral, just like his late mother. A visit to the Highland Home has become a cherished part of his summer plans every year with Queen Camilla.
