Prince William has launched a new initiative that highlights the need for green spaces and community sports. It’s a cause that reflects both his well-established interests and his family’s love for football. Dropping a video for the project, the Prince of Wales joined hands with a soccer star who will definitely earn him some 'cool dad' points with his children, especially Princess Charlotte

The star in question is none other than former England player Jill Scott. She teamed up with the Prince in honor of Fields in Trust's 100th anniversary, celebrating the charity’s work to safeguard parks, playgrounds, and sports fields across the UK. The footage, released on December 16, was filmed at Windlesham Field of Remembrance Park. It captured not only William’s longstanding passion for soccer, but also for mental health and community well-being.

In the clip, William and Scott walk in the park and discuss how exposure to outdoor spaces can shape lives. Reflecting on her own upbringing, the latter said, “A lot of my childhood was just going to the local park, playing football. Without them, green spaces, I probably would never have gone on to play football at any level. They're just so important.” William agreed and stressed the broader benefits of nature and recreation. “Having access to fresh air, a bit of peace and quiet, greenery, is so good for our minds and bodies. You need to have that space. You need to have that in as many communities as you can,” the 44-year-old said.

William’s new project is likely going to resonate at home. After all, he shares his love of soccer with his three kids: Prince George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7. Particularly, Charlotte has been an avid supporter of the England women’s football team. Over the summer, the father-daughter duo traveled to Switzerland to watch England in the finals of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025. They celebrated Chloe Kelly’s winning penalty during the anticipated match. Charlotte also joined her father in an Instagram video wishing the Lionesses luck ahead of major matches.

William has often expressed his pride in his daughter’s growing confidence on the pitch. During a 2022 visit to England’s women's team training grounds, he conveyed a message from Charlotte to the players. He said at the time, “Charlotte wanted me to tell you that she is really good at goal. She said, ‘Please tell them that.’ She's a budding star for the future.”

The same enthusiasm was evident when Kate Middleton appeared on a podcast alongside William and Princess Anne, hosted by Mike Tindall. While encouraging young girls to get involved in sports, the former also discussed her daughter. She said, “Charlotte's playing both the sports now, and it's really good to see youngsters, particularly girls, playing these types of sports now.”
