Sarah Ferguson Has Quietly Reached Out to The Royals With Emotional Apology Cards
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor had the king of all downfalls when he was stripped of his title and honours due to his ties with the disgraced financier, Jeffrey Epstein. Along with him, he also dragged down his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, for supporting him through it all. While the duo got divorced decades back, they still cohabitated and maintained a united front. However, it all came crashing down after the Epstein scandal, and now Fergie has no other option but to fend for herself alone, and it seems like, after house hunting, the festive season will be their turning point.
Fergie and the former Duke have been ordered to vacate the Royal Lodge, where they lived for over two decades. While King Charles rescued his brother, offering him his estate in Sandringham, Ferguson was left to fend for herself, and now she has decided to surrender the battle. There is no denying the fact that even after the York couple separated, Fergie remained special to the royals, and now she wants it back. And, what better time to set things right than during the festive season?
According to reports from the Scottish Daily Express, this year, for the first time since her marriage to the royal, she has sent solo Christmas cards. Up until last year, when the former duke was banished from his royal duties, Fergie sent joint cards, although, as per insiders, Mountbatten-Windsor contributed to nothing more than just signing the cards. This time around, the cards also included a "rather gushing personalised apology" for the royals.
According to the Daily Mail's Ephraim Hardcastle column, Fergie has decided to improve her relationship with the royals, and she is trying her best to regain her footing. Previously, she used to be packed with festive invites, but now that it has all dried up; the former duchess is not giving up. She is apologizing to the royals for her involvement in the scandal that maligned the royal name. Further in the column, Hardcastle reported no sign of Mountbatten-Windsor in the festive plan.
He has reportedly taken a step back from all the holiday arrangements. It also noted that the disgraced royal will have to buy his own cards, as printed versions bearing his royal cipher are no longer valid. The detail comes just days after the former Duke and Duchess of York appeared united at the christening of their granddaughter, Athena. This was a rare joint outing of the duo that contrasted sharply with Mountbatten-Windsor’s reported silence during the festive season.
While the York couple is still trying to find their balance, the rest of the family is bracing for the holidays. They recently had an intimate family lunch, and Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were also present. This marked their first family event after giving Princess Kate's carol concert a miss. At that time of the family gathering, the former Duke was spotted drenched to the skin and riding his horse in Windsor Great Park, while his wife kept a low profile.
