Royal Insiders Reveal William and Kate Were 'Blindsided' by Harry and Meghan’s Shock UK Move
Prince Harry and Meghan are reportedly moving back to the UK, leaving the palace blindsided as sources point to financial reasons.
It has been recently reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made the decision to move back to the UK with their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, six years after ‘Megxit.’ According to sources, the family is expected to travel to the U.K. within days and stay there for an extended period of time. Furthermore, it has been alleged that the couple has also enrolled Archie and Lilibet in British schools to start classes in September. The couple is reportedly very keen to re-establish a base in the UK. However, beyond the move itself, insiders note that the manner in which it was announced has heavily captured attention.
According to sources, King Charles was informed of the move a few days before it was made public, while Prince William and Princess Kate were reportedly left blindsided. This was probably not the wisest move, as it could very rapidly change the future for the Royal family. Furthermore, the news was broken by PEOPLE magazine instead of the Palace, which was honestly unexpected. While discussing the same, an insider, who spoke to Rob Shuter for his Naughty But Nice substack, exclaimed, “That tells you everything. If this were really about rebuilding trust with the royal family, the palace would have been given the respect of making the announcement. Instead, Harry and Meghan made the announcement themselves in America.”
Meanwhile, another source made it quite clear that Harry and Markle have consistently struggled to operate within the rules of royal conduct—a dynamic they do not expect to change anytime soon. The source bluntly stated, “They are still loose cannons. Nobody knows what they are going to do next, and nobody at the palace wants to find out through the American media.” However, that’s not all; sources have also claimed that it seems like Harry is following the money because their American dream crashed; he and his family really need financial aid as well as Charles’ support at the moment. The insider explained, “The American dream did not turn out the way they planned. The deals came, the headlines came, but the enormous financial independence they talked about never really materialized.”
While announcing their grand move, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stated that the decision was made with their children’s futures, family, and community in mind. However, sources close to the royal family seem to have a different opinion regarding this matter, with some bluntly arguing that the relocation is financial at its core. One source added, “This is about money. Harry knows the family fortune is in Britain. He also knows his father is the person who can make life much easier for him.” Another insider added, “They are coming back because they need Britain—and they need Charles.” Neither the Sussexes nor the Palace has made a public comment on these claims yet.
