The royal family has finally broken their silence with a cheeky and telling verdict on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s viral pregnant dance video.

On June 4, Meghan Markle broke the internet by sharing a video of herself dancing and twerking while heavily pregnant with Princess Lilibet. She was also joined by Prince Harry in the video, which was taken in a hospital delivery room. She posted the clip on Instagram as a tribute to Lilibet’s fourth birthday. Fast forward to June 26, British reality stars Jamie Laing and his wife Sophie Habboo, who are expecting their first child, attended a reception for The King's Trust at Buckingham Palace and impishly mimicked Harry and Markle. They danced to the same track on the Palace staircase, prompting a sly and cheeky response from the royal family.

Laing and Habboo filmed the video on the Grand Staircase at Buckingham Palace, which leads up to the State Rooms. Laing captioned the clip, "They said we couldn’t film in Buckingham Palace… @sophiehabboo @kingstrust." To add insult to injury, their clip featured a write-up, "The royal baby has arrived." Rather than treating the couple's Palace protocol breach as a serious matter, the official royal family Instagram account replied to the post, saying, "We see you," with eyes and winking emojis. The King's Trust joined the light-hearted banter, commenting, "All of our attendees are very well behaved," showing the monarch's sense of humor.

Laing and Habboo's video understandably quickly went viral. In response, a Palace aide told the Daily Mail, "I'm sure it was done in a spirit of fun, and of course aligned to Jamie's wonderful support for The King's Trust Awards even if it's not something we would greatly encourage every guest to attempt." They continued, "Proof that from time to time the royal family account has a sense of humor too." Harry and Markle's original video showed the couple doing the Baby Momma Dance by Starrkeisha to help induce labor for Lilibet's birth. Markle captioned her video, "Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work, there was only one thing left to do!"

While the royal family's public response came off as cheeky, an insider claimed it was anything but lighthearted behind Palace doors. As per the Daily Express, Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan revealed that an insider informed that King Charles and Queen Camilla were 'aghast' at the Sussexes' video. The source revealed that the clip generated "a lot of raised eyebrows" within the Palace walls. They further spilled, "There is a general sense [in the Palace] that they have lost it."

While Markle received a lot of flak for posting the video online, she didn't seem to regret her actions. As per Us Weekly, in her recent interview on the Aspire With Emma Grede podcast, the Duchess told the host, "So it’s also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life — a real, authentic, fun life.... I’m just grateful that now...I have a place where I can share it on my own terms."
