Meghan Markle celebrated Princess Lilibet’s fourth birthday on Wednesday, June 4, by sharing a few rare photos and videos on Instagram. One video featured the Duchess dancing in a hospital room while heavily pregnant with her daughter. Markle is seen laughing, twerking, and pulling silly faces as Prince Harry joins her later. It showed the fun side of the royal couple as they tried to bring Lilibet into the world with a goofy 'Baby Mama Dance'.
In the clip, Markle can be seen lovingly cradling her baby bump as she shakes a leg, raises her arms, and spins around. The caption for the post read, “Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work, there was only one thing left to do! 😂.” According to People magazine, she filmed the clip in a hospital labor and delivery room, dancing in a black dress to the song, ‘The Baby Momma Dance’ by Starrkista. Seconds later, Harry joins in, dancing alongside her and giving her a run for her money.
Before sharing the behind-the-scenes clip, the Duchess shared multiple photos of her daughter cuddling with her and Harry. As reported by Harper’s Bazaar, in the first photo from her tribute, Markle looks lovingly down at Lili, who sits cradled in her arms. The duo can be seen enjoying a boat ride. The second throwback photo showed Markle holding newborn Lilibet in her arms. The caption read, “Four years ago today, she came into our lives, and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!”
Later, the Duchess shared another post, this time showing ‘Daddy’s girl’ Lilibet in Harry’s arms. Sharing two photos of the Duke holding his then-newborn daughter and another of Lilibet holding her father's hand while running down a palm tree, she wrote, “The sweetest bond to watch unfold. Daddy's little girl and favorite adventurer. Happy birthday Lili!” In May, Markle showed her eldest, Prince Archie, the same affection on his birthday. Captioning a serene photo of her son taking in a sunset, she penned, “Our son. Our sun. Happy 6th birthday to Archie! Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six!”
While Markle and Harry eagerly awaited the arrival of their daughter, the situation during Lilibet’s birth was a scary one for the Duke. In his memoir, Spare, Harry recounted, “The skin was blue. I worried the baby wasn’t getting enough air. Is she choking? I looked at Meg. One more push, my love! We're so close.” He added, “Gently, but firmly, as I’d seen in films, I pulled our precious daughter from that world into this.” He also shared that he wanted his daughter to see his face first the moment she entered the world.
