Meghan Markle was never a stickler for royal protocol, reportedly finding them stifling during her time in the royal fold. She made her feelings clear from day one, on the occasion that marked her official entry into the royal family. Nearly 1.9 billion people watched Markle marry her Prince in a royal ceremony at St George’s Chapel. After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex became man and wife, they were transported by a horse-drawn carriage through Windsor town center. As reported by the Daily Mail, Markle turned to Harry and laughed, 'Oh f***!' and put her hand over her chest as the carriage pulled away from the crowds on The Long Walk and into Windsor Castle. The publication also reports that the couple had just passed an estimated 150,000 well-wishers when the F-bomb was dropped.

After the video of Markle's wedding carriage ride went viral on X (Formerly Twitter), royal watchers couldn't help but point out the same thing. One fan commented, "I bet she was like F-ck I'm gonna be the next Queen of England." The Duchess of Sussex’s unexpected F-bomb came as a surprise, considering she vowed she’d quit swearing before marrying the Prince. As reported by the Daily Express, in 2016, Markle mentioned in her lifestyle blog, The Tig, that she hoped to quit two of her ‘unladylike’ habits. She penned, “Stop biting my nails. Stop swearing. Relearn French. These make up my New Year's resolution list nearly every year (actually, every)....The swearing comes in lulls triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple of drinks.” The Duchess continued, “And when it comes to the biting of the nails, well, it still happens with a turbulent flight or a stressful day. It's unladylike. But then again, so is the swearing. Dammit.”

Coming back to Markle’s wedding, the Duchess broke many other royal protocols for her fairytale ceremony. As per the Daily Express, for British royal weddings, giving a wedding speech is only reserved for the best man, the host, and the groom. However, the Duchess shunned the rule when she gave a speech about her love for Harry and her new family. She also broke tradition when she wore a veil during her wedding ceremony. Veils are typically reserved for first-time brides, with Markle having been divorced once before. Royal author Tom Bower wrote in his book, Revenge, “The Queen also questioned why Meghan needed a veil for the wedding, given it was to be her second marriage.” Reportedly, the late Queen also thought her dress was “too white” for a divorcee.
