Kate Middleton is famously fond of children and often spends time interacting with them during public engagements. However, now another royal has decided to step into the role of being the kids’ favorite, and it’s none other than Queen Camilla. In the heels of the triumphant Cancer Research UK reception on Tuesday evening, the Queen Consort hosted a surprise tea party and treasure hunt for seriously ill children at Clarence House on Wednesday.

Camilla spent her afternoon helping kids create precious memories as she served them tea and cake, and helped them with clues as they searched for the treasure, which was a giant gold coin which was hidden in the guards’ bearskin hats. She later handed out party bags filled with pencils, a key ring, and a guard teddy from the RCS to the young guests, who are supported by the Dreams and Wishes charity organization.

The event was supposed to take place in the garden, but unpredictable London weather and even more unexpected rains forced the party to shift indoors. The chairman of the charity, Tony Curtis, greeted Camilla before escorting her to the Morning Room, where the children were enjoying Disney tunes played by a string quartet. The kids, who were dressed in fancy costumes, also got to live out all their Disney dreams as they arrived at Clarence House in a horse-drawn carriage, waving to tourists and passers-by. A dreamy arrival indeed.

“Hello, I hear you arrived here by carriage! “ The Queen greeted the kids, as per The Mirror. She had arranged a large feast for the children as she led them to the delectable buffet. The children were treated with sandwiches, cakes, and fruit. Personally, distributing plates, Camilla encouraged her cute guests to eat as much as they wanted. “It’s all for you. See how much you can cram in,” she mentioned.

However, another fun activity still awaited the children: a tray of chocolate cookies was placed at the center of the table. Each cookie had a name of one of the children, creating a sweet opportunity to keep them engaged. Camilla told them, “See if you can find yours”. The table also featured cuddly toys in case the children suddenly found themselves in a teddy-bear emergency. Ever the pleasant hostess, the Queen Consort went around the table asking the kids about what they would like to eat and how they found the food.

Camilla had significant personal interactions with all the kids, creating a day they will never forget. She was later gifted a bottle of gin, a whisky, a clock, and some plants for the garden by Curtis. Thanking him, she mentioned that the gin was her husband, King Charles’ favorite
