Princess Kate’s Sweet Gesture to Comfort Young Royal at Latest Outing Wins Hearts [Video]
Kate Middleton's friendly nature was on full display when she warmly comforted a young member of the gathering of senior royals.
Among the royal family, Kate Middleton is widely regarded as the friendliest of the bunch, often engaging with the public during walkabouts. Her approachable nature was on full display at the traditional Easter Service on April 5, where she was seen lovingly chatting with James, Earl of Wessex, the son of Prince Edward. In a video from the event, she appears to warmly welcome and comfort him into the gathering of senior royals, highlighting her importance in such family settings.

In a clip shared on X, the Princess of Wales, along with Prince William and their three children, are seen waiting for King Charles and Queen Camilla for the mass. James, who was seen walking down the church behind Middleton, was caught engrossed in a deep conversation with her. Undoubtedly, the young royal would have been nervous, as Easter marked a rare outing for him, as he prefers to live his life outside the spotlight and only joins the family for such major outings. He was also joined by other young members like Peter Phillips' two daughters and his fiancée, Harriet Spencer's daughter, Georgina.
After royal fans caught wind of the exchange, they took to the comments to praise Middleton's warm nature. A netizen said, "James and Catherine look like natural buddies." In a similar vein, another opined, "James seems uncomfortable at these occasions, nice to see Catherine making him feel at ease." Meanwhile, a royal watcher gushed, "Love how close Wales and Edinburgh families are." As the comments poured in, another praised, "Catherine is truly so loving. James, Earl of Wessex, is such a sweet, young, shy man. She just has a way of putting everyone at ease." Another also commented, "She's so down to earth, I think they will feel at ease in her presence."
James, who attended the event without his mother and sister, had good reason to do so. As reported by The Daily Express, Duchess Sophie was expected to attend but pulled out at the last moment as she was said to be under the weather. Meanwhile, Lady Louise also did not attend as she was away at the University of St. Andrews, where classes are still in session. Although Edward and Sophie are working royals its unlikely that their children will follow their path, as they have already decided against inheriting royal titles.
Unsurprisingly, James wasn't the only member that Middleton warmly welcomed during the Easter service. She and Prince William were also all smiles beside the newest members in the bunch, Sperling and her daughter, Georgina. Georgina walked proudly alongside Phillips' daughters, Savannah and Isla, from his previous marriage to Autumn Kelly. She was also seen warmly interacting with the senior royals and her stepsisters. Sperling is originally from Gloucestershire, where her wedding to Phillips will take place close to her home.
