Princess Eugenie Snubs Dad Andrew for Father’s Day Tribute — and It’s Not the First Time
A not-so-subtle Father's Day snub from Princess Eugenie has put the York family's shifting dynamics back under the spotlight.
When Princess Eugenie shared a sweet Father's Day tribute to Jack Brooksbank on June 21, many fans focused on the heartwarming family photos of him with their sons, August and Earnest. Others, however, were quick to notice the absence of a familiar figure: her own father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Having publicly wished him on Father's Day until 2020, the Princess has since played it safe, a shift that comes amid the former prince's fall from grace following his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
In a photo carousel posted on Instagram, Eugenie shared, "Happy Father's Day to the best there is.. chief child entertainer for besties' wedding too. The boys couldn't ask for a better Dada." In the first photo, Brooksbank is seen walking down the sidewalk, holding hands with August and Ernest. Another snapshot captures a sweet moment from a church wedding, where he keeps August entertained during the service with a coloring book and football-themed stickers. The playful scene comes at an exciting time for the couple, who are currently expecting their third child later this summer.
Against this backdrop, Princess Eugenie's last public tribute to her father was in 2020, marking the end of a regular yearly tradition on Instagram. Previously, she had shared throwback family photos with Prince Andrew and Princess Beatrice in 2017 and 2018, followed by an intimate wedding-day embrace in 2019. Her final 2020 post featured a childhood memory with her father alongside a photo of her husband, Jack Brooksbank, with his own dad. Her subsequent silence is widely seen as a deliberate move to avoid public backlash and protect her privacy, allowing her to keep the focus firmly on the family that matters most to her.
The lack of a public Father's Day tribute from Eugenie comes during a difficult period for the York family, after Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson were stripped of their titles and now live in isolation. Sky News reported that while Eugenie immediately shared her third pregnancy with her mother, she didn't call her father. Instead, Sarah Ferguson reportedly passed along the news that another baby was arriving this summer, meaning "Andrew found out that he was to be a grandpa again via Sarah." The two have reportedly experienced a breakdown in communication ever since he was stripped of his titles and had to vacate his royal residence.
