Princess Eugenie is Struggling to Accept the Royal Exile, Insider Claims
Both Eugenie and Beatrice have chosen to stay out of the spotlight for now.
Princess Eugenie is currently going through an extremely challenging phase, with several major controversies surrounding the York family. The situation started to deteriorate after her parents’ past links to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein came to light, while other legal hurdles involving her father, Prince Andrew, worsened the situation. While some analysts and royal experts believe that Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice won't be affected by the scandal, a source has now claimed that the 36-year-old princess is just 'in denial' about her changing role within the royal family.
As reported by the Daily Express, the source said, "[Eugenie] has apparently gone into denial – fingers in the ears, head in the sand, hoping it will all go away." The person then spoke about how Beatrice's reaction to the entire situation has been very different from her younger sister, stating, "Beatrice is trying to come to terms with it matter-of-factly, although can’t help bursting into tears regularly - not for her father but for the implosion of her own world and, especially, the family’s cold shoulder. Her royal status means more to her than Eugenie."
It's worth noting that both sisters have reportedly been banned from attending the royal carriage procession at this year’s Royal Ascot. Not just this, a source also revealed that other members of the royal family have been urged not to be photographed with the girls, at least for the rest of this year. All of this is definitely frustrating, especially for Beatrice, as a palace insider previously stated, "Beatrice has taken it the hardest; she's been completely blindsided by everything that's happened." Nevertheless, royal expert Jennie Bond talked about Beatrice and Eugenie's support for each other, saying, “I’m sure the sisters are a great support to one another. Only they can be sure about what they know about their parents’ dubious friendships and finances.”
As reported by The Mirror, Bond added, “Both princesses seem to have decided that keeping a low profile for now is the best course of action. And I suspect that is how Eugenie spent her birthday: out of public view and certainly not openly with either of her parents." Meanwhile, ever since Andrew and Sarah Ferguson became entangled in the Epstein controversy, both Beatrice and Eugenie have made it very clear through their actions that their support remains firmly with the Royal Family. For instance, they visited Sandringham for Christmas last year, even while their parents stayed back in Windsor.
Initially, King Charles also signaled that Beatrice and Eugenie would not be affected by his decision to strip Andrew of his royal titles. However, as the controversies grow more intense, Charles has been forced to maintain a cautious distance from his nieces to protect the monarchy’s image. On the other hand, the royal sisters are facing growing pressure to publicly address what they may have known about their parents’ links to Epstein, mainly because they have been mentioned in the files as well.
