Princess Diana’s Brother Charles Spencer Hints at ‘Many Revelations’ About Her Marriage to King Charles
Princess Diana had famously termed her marriage to Charles as "crowded" in reference to the infidelity that existed.
Princess Diana and King Charles' marriage history has been a subject of debate for decades. Many versions have been put in the public domain through books and personal interviews featuring Diana herself. However, Earl Spencer, the former Princess of Wales' younger brother, has promised to narrate a personal and never-before-heard account of the former royal union. Spencer's upcoming book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, set for release on 22nd September, aims to "tell the truth about Diana from her brother’s perspective."
GBN News reported that the bombshell memoir will explore Diana's upbringing, her 15-year marriage to the then Prince of Wales, and the highly challenging period following her death in a car crash in Paris in August 1997. Spencer delivered a notable eulogy at Westminster Abbey, which was watched by an estimated 2.5 billion viewers worldwide. At her funeral, he emphasized that his sister did not need a royal title to exert her unique influence and promised to protect Prince William and Prince Harry, allowing them to express themselves freely rather than being confined by duty and tradition.
The speech elicited spontaneous applause from the masses waiting outside the Abbey, which resonated inward, prompting the congregation to join in. Additionally, a dispute arose regarding whether William and Harry, aged 15 and 12, should walk behind the funeral cortege, which Spencer criticized as "a barbarity," as mentioned in Prince Harry's 2023 memoir Spare.
Daniel Bunyard, publishing director at Penguin Michael Joseph, highlighted that the book contained "many revelations that will draw considerable attention," hinting at Diana and Charles' disastrous union. Spencer and Diana were raised at Park House on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk before moving to Althorp in 1975.
They had coined adorable nicknames for each other: Diana used to call her younger brother "Carlos," and he referred to her as "Duch," short for Duchess. Meanwhile, Tom Sykes, author and royal commentator of The Royalist, said Spencer's version of the book will allegedly lift the lid on “untruths” about Diana's narrative, "including her marriage to Charles, by whose allies she was smeared as unbalanced."
Diana had famously termed her marriage to Charles as "crowded" in reference to the infidelity that existed. Princess Diana and Charles divorced on August 28, 1996, after a formal separation announced in December 1992 and a divorce agreement finalized in February 1996. Diana, Princess of Wales, died on August 31, 1997, at the age of 36, following a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris, France.
