Prince William Gives Rare Glimpse of His New Home — and Fans Notice a Sweet Tribute to Queen Elizabeth
Prince William's podcast appearance backdrop had royal fans zooming in, and one special keepsake stole the show.
Prince William stepped away from the formalities expected of a future king during a surprise video appearance on NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast. Trading strict protocol for playful banter, the Prince of Wales casually ribbed the brothers while relaxing in his new Forest Lodge home. The appearance also gave royal fans an intimate glimpse inside the residence, where eagle-eyed viewers spotted a cherished keepsake originally gifted to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, for her 2002 Golden Jubilee.
On the far left of William's screen, tucked carefully behind a book, sat an elegant white vase with deep personal ties to the late Queen. According to the Royal Collection Trust's website, the piece—known as a Yabba pot—was gifted to Her Majesty in 2002 by the Governor-General of Jamaica, Sir Howard Felix Cooke, to mark her Golden Jubilee and royal tour of the country. After being displayed at Buckingham Palace during the annual Summer Opening of the State Rooms, the vase was passed down to her grandson. Now a cherished family heirloom, it serves as a poignant reminder of their close bond and a sweet tribute to her legacy.
But that wasn't all; William’s backdrop gave fans a glimpse of many more items from his new home. Behind him hung a striking, gold-framed landscape painting—believed to be from the Royal Collection—depicting a snow-covered view of Windsor Castle from across the River Thames near Eton, where he and Prince Harry went to school. The carefully curated setting also featured the book Earthshot: How to Save Our Planet, an initiative launched to find scalable solutions to repair the planet over the next decade, for which William wrote the introduction in 2021. A wicker basket filled with lilies added a warm, lived-in touch, reflecting the natural, understated aesthetic previously seen inside the Wales family's Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.
Meanwhile, the two pinecone-inspired structures visible in the frame were undoubtedly chosen to reflect William's well-documented love for nature-inspired interiors—a woodland theme also frequently championed by Princess Kate. Commenting on the Prince and Princess of Wales's savvy décor choices inside their former Kensington Palace home, Deirdre McGettrick, founder and CEO of ufurnish.com, previously told the Daily Mail that the couple always opted for a "muted neutral tone of earthy cream to keep their rooms fresh, calm, and modern."
