Dismissing any lingering murmurs of reconciliation, the long-simmering tension between royal brothers Prince William and Prince Harry appears destined to intensify, and this time on American soil. The future King and Princess Kate are reportedly preparing for a high-profile visit to the United States to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary in July 2026, a symbolic moment that could further exacerbate an already fractured bond between the siblings who were once tied at the hip but are now estranged.

According to OK!, William and Kate have received an official invitation to join King Charles and Queen Camilla in commemorating America’s independence, with the Prince and Princess of Wales expected to assume a central, forward-facing role as the monarchy’s future. While Buckingham Palace has yet to formally confirm the plans, the growing buzz suggests the visit is all but inevitable. Yet the anticipated U.S. tour is a loaded bullet to dodge, as the Waleses’ presence stateside risks reopening old wounds and reigniting tensions with the Sussexes.

The irony isn't lost on anyone how William and Kate are invited to celebrate the very state's independence, where Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, escaped to experience freedom. "It's shaping up to be one of the most significant diplomatic events in years. The King is set to take the lead, but William and Kate are fully prepared to represent Britain," added an insider. They also opined how Harry might see his brother's visit as a threat.

"The Palace is determined they will play a major role regardless. But as America has become the Sussexes' base, the visit could explode into all-out war between William and Harry. Harry will see it as his brother invading 'his' territory," concluded the source. While William's visit is professional and not personal, Harry may fail to accept it, given their estranged relationship. Donald Trump has reportedly requested William and Kate's presence at the event and has even commissioned a staggering $300 million ballroom at the White House for the event.

Another insider revealed how Trump has no intention of even including Harry and Meghan in the said celebration. "What President Trump wants is spectacle and status. In his view, that's Charles, Camilla, William, and Kate – not California-based celebrities," explained a Washington-based diplomat. However, Markle and Harry are unlikely to take this snub in stride. "Meghan hates the idea of being overshadowed in the US. There's real worry she could schedule her own events to compete with the tour," opined a source.

It is also a possibility that even Harry might host a tour and leave his current address to avoid the awkward clash with his brother. "It's turned into a back-and-forth. Whenever William makes an official appearance, Harry quickly follows with his own moment in front of the cameras. The trip to the U.S. is the Waleses signaling enough is enough," said a source. It all now depends on Kate, as she is a known royal peacemaker who might be able to stop the situation from spiralling. "She's firm in her stance now. There's simply no space for disruption — and definitely not from Harry and Meghan," added an insider from Kensington Palace.
