Prince Harry Makes Heartbreaking Confession About Archie During Australia Tour
Prince Harry's admission of feeling a disconnect from fatherhood included a surprising confession about Archie that many did not see coming.
Prince Harry may be a proud father to two children, but fatherhood has certainly not been all roses and sunshine for him. On April 15, he candidly admitted feeling a sense of disconnect while addressing a crowd at a Movember charity event in Melbourne. His emotional confession about Prince Archie drew particular attention, as he revealed his infant son would weep when he picked him up after a stressful day, highlighting a child's ability to recognize their parent's emotional strain.
In his speech, the Duke of Sussex offered a deeply personal insight into his new days as a father. He said, "Every single time I went to work and when I came back, if I was stressed, the moment that I held Archie, he would start crying." Further opening up about the unspoken mental health constraints that men face during the early weeks of their baby's birth, he continued, "I think for many guys, you try to think about what service can I provide at this point, because my work here is done to some extent." He did not shy away from admitting, "Those days, weeks, after birth are a real struggle."

Harry's remarks moved the audience, who recognized that fatherhood was not a walk in the park, but rather an evolving journey requiring a willingness to grow. Speaking about how therapy helped him overcome his feelings of uncertainty, he added, "From a therapy standpoint, you want to be the best version of yourself for your kids. And I knew that I had stuff from the past that I needed to deal with, and therefore prepare myself to basically cleanse myself of the past." According to him, the biggest tip he received from his therapist was 'just to be aware' of his feelings after the baby was born.
Speaking about his own childhood and how it differed from the age of social media, the Duke stressed that he did not blame King Charles and the late Princess Diana, as parenting evolves with learning. He revealed, "Not to say that I upgraded my dad or that my kids upgraded me, but the kids that we bring up in today's world need to be upgraded. There's no judgment, there's no blame, there's no pointing the finger." As for being a dad now, he asserted that it was his 'most important transformational role' advising new fathers, "You're not alone…You will have a rollercoaster of emotions, and don't judge yourself."
The Duke's candid confession came while visiting the Western Bulldogs at their training base in Melbourne, where he learnt about the Australian rules football culture. There, he immersed himself in a mini coaching session, learning to kick and handball with players, and stepped on the field for a light training run. He also chatted with the players' families and local children, watched drills, and was presented with personalized team jerseys for Archie and Princess Lilibet, which he cherished.
