Prince William and Princess Kate Lose Top Spot as Britain’s Most Popular Royals in New Poll
According to YouGov, the most popular British royal today is Princess Anne, who has overtaken the Prince and Princess of Wales for the top spot.
Prince William and Princess Kate have always been well loved by the public. Through their proactive spirit and warm, engaging presence, the future King and Queen leave lasting impressions wherever they go. That's why they have been two of the most popular Royals. However, it seems the Prince and Princess of Wales have recently been dethroned. According to YouGov, the most popular British royal today is Princess Anne, who has overtaken the Prince and Princess of Wales for the top spot. The Princess Royal received a positive opinion rating of about 67 percent.

However, according to the Princess Royal’s ranking card, about 20% of people happen to have a neutral opinion about her. On the other hand, it seems like 7% of them also dislike her. Meanwhile, Middleton finds herself right behind Anne, dropping down the list with 64 percent of the votes. The third spot has been held by William with 62 percent. Meanwhile, King Charles is in the fourth spot with 53 percent. These figures clearly suggest that the Prince and Princess, along with the King, have experienced a slight dip in their popularity in recent months.

It is no surprise that Anne, often dubbed the hardest-working, has topped the list. After all, discussing Anne's work ethic, Joe Little, Majesty Magazine's Managing Editor, previously told HELLO!, “The Princess Royal is regarded by her brother the King as the ultimate pair of safe hands. Her no-nonsense attitude and work ethic, which even in her 70s shows no sign of waning, have won her a lot of praise from the media and the public over the years." On the other hand, Kate and William have been often dubbed ‘work-shy,’ often criticized for prioritizing family life and school runs over their royal duties.

According to the quarterly 2026 engagement count, the Prince of Wales logged 22 solo engagements, while Kate only recorded 11. In comparison to them, the King carried out about 86 solo appearances, even while undergoing cancer treatment. Meanwhile, Anne completed 478 official royal engagements last year.
