Prince William and Kate Middleton recently returned to the UK following a two-day trip to Scotland. On April 29, the Prince and Princess of Wales visited the Isle of Mull to celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary. A week later, on May Day, the royal couple resumed work and teased an exciting new project. The post had social media abuzz as royal fans were left guessing about what's to come.
The Prince and Princess of Wales penned a cryptic caption. It read, “Happy May Day. Coming soon…” followed by a video camera emoji. As reported by Royal Insider, the video showed glimpses of nature—a stream, blooming flowers, and trees. The words 'Mother Nature' featured, followed by the Kensington Palace logo. William, Middleton, or their three children, however, were not featured in the video. Based on the words in the clip, royal watchers assumed that the project may pay homage to William’s environmental endeavors. The Prince of Wales is the founder of The Earthshot Prize, a global environmental award.
On X (formerly Twitter), fans poured in with comments of excitement. A royal watcher commented, “Oooh, I am intrigued! Can't wait to find out more. 👀😍” Another chimed, “We don't know what this is, but we are waiting 😭 and extremely excited.” In a similar vein, another echoed, “👀👀😱 The suspense is killing me. Can not wait. 😃” As the comments poured in, a royal fan added, “Royals don't tease people.”
While most of the comments were positive, not everyone is a fan of the Waleses' penchant for environmentalism. A netizen penned, “I love you guys, but you gotta cool it with the Mother Nature worship.” Meanwhile, one pointed out the poor editing in the video. They said, “While this video is delightful, these highly filtered, highly edited videos are growing old.”
William and Middleton have been actively championing eco-friendly practices and raising awareness about climate change. As per Town & Country magazine, the couple met rangers from the Mull and Iona Ranger Service at the Ardura Community Forest during their recent trip to Scotland. Kensington Palace also posted about the same. A statement read, “A powerful reminder of the importance of protecting the environment and the role outdoor learning plays in building connection and care for nature.” The Prince of Wales has also mentioned that he and Middleton recycle “as much as we can at home” and added his team has all committed to going plastic free. While William is surely to be his own man when he becomes King, one thing is for sure— he is his father's son when it comes to championing environmental causes.
