Prince William And Harry Could Have Been An ‘Enviable’ Team — Former Aide Reveals Why
Drawing an unlikely comparison, the former aide likened the brothers' personalities to the helicopters they flew.
Prince William and Prince Harry were once inseparable, but for the past few years, they have been silently waging a cold battle that doesn't seem to end. Royal fans and experts are still hoping for a royal reconciliation before the 30th anniversary of their late mother, Princess Diana's, death. However, if reports are to be believed, William has distanced himself from Harry's initiative to remember Diana through a film. While their estrangement continues, a former employee has stated that they would have been an enviable power team if they had not parted ways.
Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, former private secretary to the Windsor brothers, discussed their differing personalities in an interview on Gyles Brandreth’s podcast. He remarked that the Duke of Sussex and Prince of Wales could have formed a "very powerful" team if not for their strained relationship. "I thought they both had great talents in very different ways," Lowther-Pinkerton revealed while appearing on The Rosebud Podcast.
"One was instinctive, one was very considered." Drawing an unlikely comparison, the former aide likened the brothers' personalities to the helicopters they flew. He highlighted that Harry, serving as an attack helicopter pilot, would navigate at high speeds with multiple tasks. In contrast, the Prince of Wales, having worked as a search-and-rescue pilot, exhibited dedication and leaned towards fulfilling his responsibilities. "Harry would be clipping the trees at 130 knots or whatever it was, with 35 things to do in an attack helicopter," he said.
"You know, Prince William was in a great big yellow helicopter, and he had to go out into the storm, literally for 300 miles in a straight line, make sure fuel loads were precise," Lowther-Pinkerton added while lauding William's helpful nature. He continued by comparing Harry to John of Gaunt, the fourth son of King Edward III, and William to Edward, the Black Prince, suggesting parallels between the modern royals and the famous siblings of the 1300s.
He concluded by noting that both the brothers had equal potential for power, not in their future roles but in their inherent capabilities, highlighting that their outcomes diverged significantly from this potential.
Meanwhile, according to royal biographer Omid Scobie, Harry has openly expressed his desire to reconcile with his brother, William. However, Scobie believes that reconciliation is unlikely, despite the approaching anniversary of Princess Diana's death next year. "I can’t see it making any difference, but one can always hope," he said while appearing on an ABC documentary, the Daily Mail reported.
