Prince Louis Finds New Competition as Rarely Seen Cousin Steals Show With Cheeky Antics at Royal Wedding
While Prince Louis has long been considered the royal family's chief scene-stealer, another member may have just emerged as serious competition.
When royal weddings are spoken about, people tend to mention elegant fashion, family reunions, and, of course, the historic guest list. But in some rare cases, there are some attendees who end up stealing the show. That’s precisely what happened when Peter Phillips got married to Harriet Sperling over the weekend, on June 6. While the royal family—including King Charles and Queen Camilla—gathered at All Saints' Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire, it was seven-year-old Lena Tindall who unexpectedly stole the show. Her cute antics quickly drew comparisons to everyone’s beloved young royal, Prince Louis.
According to HELLO!, little Lena Tindall injected a dose of pure whimsy into the gray, overcast afternoon, following the service. Unbothered by the gloomy weather or the formal atmosphere, Zara and Mike Tindall’s daughter was spotted happily twirling a bright pink umbrella through the air, opening and closing it repeatedly, and sporting a wide grin on her face. Video footage from the event showed Mike speaking to his youngest daughter while standing under his own umbrella, but Lena was having too much fun entertaining herself. The moment immediately drew comparisons to how Prince Louis is at royal events. His cheeky behavior has made him a deeply adored young royal during public appearances. Watch the video here.
Over the years, Prince Louis has earned a reputation as the royal family's resident scene-stealer, delivering unforgettable moments at major events. Be it covering his ears during Trooping the Colour in 2022 or sticking his tongue out at the Platinum Jubilee Pageant later that same year, the youngest child of Prince William and Princess Kate has frequently delighted royal watchers with his sudden, unfiltered reactions. Although Louis skipped Peter Phillips' wedding alongside his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Lena Tindall’s whimsical umbrella display served as a charming reminder that he may soon have some competition for the title of chief family entertainer.
This playful streak is evidently a family trait for the Tindalls. Lucas, Lena’s younger brother, has also routinely delighted onlookers with his high-energy personality. Just last month at the Badminton Horse Trials, the five-year-old was spotted enthusiastically wielding a toy sword, a massive ear-to-ear grin plastered across his face as he played. Like Prince Louis, the Tindall children seem quite comfortable being themselves when in the public eye, despite growing up in the spotlight. Royal fans have often mentioned how they find it refreshing.
While Lena's little moment with the umbrella became an unexpected highlight, the wedding itself was quite a stylish family affair. Zara Tindall was spotted supporting her brother in a periwinkle Rebecca Vallance dress. She paired it with metallic stiletto heels and a Camilla Rose headband. Mike, on the other hand, looked sharp as ever in a black tailcoat. Their daughters co-ordinated in floral outfits as well, with their eldest, Mia, wearing a blue short-sleeved dress and Lena choosing a white floral frock paired with pink ballet flats. Yet among all the carefully chosen ensembles and royal elegance, it was the latter’s carefree moment that left the strongest impression. If Prince Louis has long been considered the Royal Family's primary scene-stealer, his young cousin, Lena, may have just presented herself as serious competition.
