Prince Harry Reveals When He'll Return to the UK After Humiliating Security Case Defeat

Prince Harry has visited the UK only a handful of times since his royal exit in 2020. Having lost his court battle for state-funded security recently, he made it clear that he cannot imagine bringing Meghan Markle and his kids to the UK. The Prince, however, is willing to take the alleged risk himself, like he has for family events, to see his ailing father, and for his passion project, The Invictus Games. Dates for Harry's next UK visit now stand confirmed, but it won't be for a few years.

According to the Daily Express, the city of Birmingham, last year, was confirmed to have won its bid to host the Invictus Games. The specific dates for the mega event weren't out until recently. A recent statement announced, “The Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 are locked in and we couldn’t be more excited to share the dates with you! 10th–17th July 2027. Opening Ceremony: 10th July. Closing Ceremony: 17th July. This will be a Games to remember with 12 incredible sports, including brand new additions like e-sports, pickleball, and laser run, bringing fresh energy to the Invictus spirit!” With Harry being deeply invested in the planning as founder, he is likely to fly to the UK to attend the events and give the opening speech.
Harry, who trained as an Army Air Corps, was deployed on active duty twice to Afghanistan; first in Helmand Province, and later with the Army Air Corps. He retired from the military in 2015 and went on to serve as a full-time working royal. In 2014, he founded the Invictus Games after attending the Warrior Games in Colorado in 2013, in honor and for the upliftment of injured service personnel.
As for his security case, shortly after the Duke lost in court, he sat down for an explosive interview with the BBC. It saw him assert that his family was behind his stripping away of state-funded security to trap him in the Firm and discourage the move to the US. He also blamed his father for the court now ruling against him. He added, “I can't see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point. There have been so many disagreements between me and some of my family.” However, during the interview, he also expressed his wish to reconcile with his family, arguing that, “there's no point continuing to fight anymore... life is precious.”
According to The Telegraph’s royal correspondent Camilla Tominey, the Invictus Games may bring a chance for Harry and King Charles to reunite. She said, “Equally exploratory have been discussions about if or when father and son could ever be reunited, with some mooting that the next Invictus Games could provide an opportunity when it is held in Birmingham in 2027.”
