Prince Harry Reacts to Singer's Cheeky Joke About King Charles — And His Reaction Says It All

Prince Harry encountered a potentially awkward moment when he attended David Foster's gala last week.

While dad jokes usually incite more groans and eye rolls than actual laughs, one recent dad joke cracked on Prince Harry might call for a more shocked reaction. Albeit, it was a different kind of dad joke. Last week, 2024 Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas performed at David Foster’s gala in Canada, where Harry and Meghan Markle were also in attendance. While Christmas’s performance certainly enthralled the Sussexes, her light-hearted comment about King Charles might have caught the prince off-guard.

While speaking to The Sun, the singer shared her experience of meeting the Duke of Sussex. “When I was on stage, I joked about meeting his dad before adding, 'Sorry he couldn’t make it. He sent me instead',” she said. The moment could have certainly turned out awkward. But Harry displayed his appetite for a good joke. “Oh my god – I say such silly things when I’m nervous, but Harry started laughing,” Christmas added. The Duke has always been known for his cheeky sense of humor, and well, it takes one to know one.

At the gala, Christmas sang ‘Tomorrow’ from Annie and Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way,’ and Harry was reportedly extremely touched by the performance. “When I got down off stage he just came forward and gave me a big cuddle,” she said, “And he went, ‘Sydnie, I felt every word. I really felt that in the back of my throat’.” The 31-year-old further added, “He just went in for the hug, and I was like, ‘Why not?’”

Christmas later took to her social media to share her “absolute pinch me moment” of meeting Harry. She posted a picture on her Instagram page of herself greeting the Duke at the gala. “Harry you are the most loveliest soul” she wrote in the heartwarming caption.

Harry and Markle stunned royal fans when they appeared together on the red carpet of the gala on Saturday. The couple appeared in sync with each other, even in terms of their outfit choices. The Duke opted for a suave black blazer, matching trousers, and a crisp white shirt. He completed the look with a neat bow tie. On the other hand, the Duchess of Sussex donned a beautiful black cape dress that she paired with her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s diamond and sapphire butterfly earrings. She tied her hair in a sleek bun to finish the ensemble. The pair was spotted having a fun night. They joked about bagpipes, and Markle was seen jamming to Adam Levine’s performance.

Harry and Markle’s joint appearance at the gala came weeks after the Sussexes traveled to Europe for a family summer vacation. The family had a private meeting with Charles at Highgrove and is also said to have visited Diana’s grave in Althorp.
