Prince Harry once shared what it was like to witness the birth of his daughter, Princess Lilibet, in 2021. After stepping down from their royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan Markle moved to the US and found welcoming their second child much easier as things were calmer around them. However, inside the delivery room, things were scary for Harry when his daughter’s head was crowning. The Duke couldn't keep calm, as he worried his daughter was ‘choking’.

According to People magazine, in his explosive memoir, Spare, Harry offered a play-by-play of his daughter’s birth. While Markle was in labor, the Prince hoped to be the first person his daughter could see when she was born, and so he went the extra mile in helping deliver Lilibet. He wrote, “I went and stood beside the doctor. We both crouched, as if about to pray. The doctor called out, 'The head is crowning.' Crowning, I thought. Incredible,” hinting at the double meaning behind crowning. The father-of-two shared, “The skin was blue. I worried the baby wasn’t getting enough air. Is she choking? I looked at Meg. One more push, my love! We're so close.”

Harry revealed how, after the last push, he pulled his daughter out as per the doctor’s instructions. He wrote, “A scream, then a moment of pure liquid silence…There was only this intense present, and then the doctor turned to me and shouted, 'Now!'” Recalling how he put his hands under the womb to pull Lilibet out, Harry wrote, “Gently, but firmly, as I’d seen in films, I pulled our precious daughter from that world into this.” After her birth, the Duke claimed he had promised Lilibet he would keep her safe. He also shared that the birthing experience was different from that of his son Prince Archie’s in 2019, when the Sussexes were working royals. The couple had to abide by several royal protocols.

Recently, on June 4, as Lilibet celebrated her 4th birthday, the Duchess of Sussex shared a rare hospital video which featured her and Harry dancing to induce labor. Earlier, Harry, too, had spilled in his memoir how he and his wife had In-N-Out and fajitas, followed by their ‘Baby Mama’ dance. The Prince wrote, “We ate and ate and then did the Baby Mama dance around the hospital room,” adding there was ‘nothing but joy and love’ in the room.

On the occasion of Lilibet’s recent birthday, Markle penned: “Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work, there was only one thing left to do!” The video, which went viral, has left the internet divided. While some praised the Sussexes for enjoying Lilibet's birth, others slammed Markle for posting such a private moment on social media.
